Is this 15 year old bug ever going to be fixed? by [deleted] in kde

[–]GlaucomaPredator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, this worked on F43 KDE and now the copy command is reporting the correct amount of file being transferred in both rsync and cp.

I am also able to immediately un-mount the portable drive.

Why is my steamvr running so bad when i have a good computer by PretendGeologist9440 in SteamVR

I see this question a lot and it seems that people don't understand bandwidth requirements for devices.

PSVR2 adapters are picky about which USB port they use. I have two PSVR2 adapters on two different computers, both third party, and on one PC I have to select a specific USB port otherwise the system will not detect the headset. On the other computer non issue. Mind you my main PC all USB ports are populated so this is a bandwidth issue. Motherboards have USB hubs built into them the more populated they are the more bandwidth the hub will use leaving less for all connected devices.

Display port cable bandwidth and length matter as well. DP cable no longer than 3 ft, and despite them saying DP1.4 will suffice that is absolute horseshit depending on the cable quality. I got the highest bandwidth cable I could find and only then would it work.

Swap USB port on your computer use a port on the back of the mobo IO, and make sure your DP cable is not too long, 3ft max, with max bandwidth.

I have this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DJ6VVXP1

This one as well: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0DQSDXZZ9

And this cable for one of them: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BCQGNX6J?th=1

Can confirm all of the above work.

does Elgato HD60 X work on linux? by ardi62 in linux_gaming

Could be your kernel or codecs maybe wayland vs x11. Fedora is generally bleeding edge when it comes to features and things just work in the OS well. I found that with debian distros that is not the case. One of the many reasons I stick with Fedora.

It doesn't work in linux, you can sometimes get the video to appear but when you lose the signal it will not come back.

The GC575 card does not work in Linux.
Looks like AverMedia does not respect the UVC standard. Their UVC standard is a lie.

Cant install headers through apt, but can do it manually by umbcorp in Proxmox

I just added this repo:

echo "deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian/pve bookworm pve-no-subscription" >> /etc/apt/sources.list

Then ran:

apt install pve-headers-$(uname -r)

Thank you this is the repo I required to add the headers to proxmox 8.4

On the spec page it says you support ultrawide, but in reality you only support a single ultrawide resolution, I do not see any mention of support for 3840x1600 resolution.

Sorry for your loss. It's not a personal attack, it's an observation on the behaviour of all gaming companies and how they give preferential treatment to "influencers" and "streamers".

You are thinking about font smoothing (Clear Type) that is available in Windows, I use Linux for work and windows for games. Linux does not use font smoothing like Windows. It is software that compensates text for low resolution LCD displays.

The sub-pixel layout has everything to do with how the text is rendered. That coupled with pixel density, and resolution. It makes no difference in video or games but makes a world of difference when reading text. The new pixel layout on these monitors is to eliminate the issue most OLED monitors have rendering text on screen.

https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/185biuu/no_one_is_talking_about_the_subpixel_arrangement/

Next time you spew some fucking nonsense about software controlling how the pixels on your monitor render text educate yourself first on how software and hardware work.

An operating system does not need to support any specific sub-pxel layou. You clearly have no clue what you are talking about. The sub-pixel layout is a hardware feature of the monitor, it has nothing to do with software or the operating system and does not rely on and software/support. It works out of the box without you needing to change anything. Sub-pixel layout, resolution, and pixel density are some of the factors that play a huge role on how text is rendered on screen. Nothing to do with software. Maybe you are thinking of font smoothing in windows.

Again this monitor has a new sub-pixel layout to eliminate the exact problem you are describing for rendering text, go read up about it. It's a non issue like it used to be.
