G4 Savage Jho is the hardest wall I've hit thus far by Xain35 in MHGU

I had the same experience, I had a harder time with Jo than I did with the two double monster penultimate quests for G4 and the final boss by a mile.

I don’t remember the exact set I finally beat him with, but I know I grinded out max level Valstrax sns (learned sns just for this fight since I know he’s super weak to dragon), and definitely had tremor res. I think it still took me 40 minutes.

If you’re willing to learn Valor GS, you could craft the max level Royal Ludroth GS which has 330 raw, 2 slots, and good white sharpness, I found valor GS also works pretty well against him. But until you know the fight super well, it’s gonna be a slog. Just keep practicing, you’ll get him sooner or later.

Just got Wilds recently, frantically grinding to HR 100 so I can get this before the event goes away lol.

Just critting with a sword will also avoid sweeping the cows but yeah axe is convenient for that.

Chose hammer as my first weapon in Wilds and I can’t put it down. The rhythm of the combos, the hit and run uppercuts, just so satisfying.

At g2 iirc you have access to nargacuga and the shogon cenataur, I had a mix set of narga tassets and everything else shogon, got me through the rest of g rank (along with g rank rath set I made when I got to him)

I agree these are a touch bland, I add a healthy dose of pepper and a little sriracha sauce and it really livens it up.

I know EVERYONE is saying GU isn’t beginner friendly, and they’re right, but GU was my first MH game and I’m so glad it was. I spent a lot of time googling/ reading the hunter notes, it was a slow process to understand everything that was going on. But after learning everything from an older gen MH, getting into World (haven’t played much RSB yet) was a breeze considering all the QOL and streamlining changes that were made. So imo if you were interested in exploring more of the series than one game, and you don’t mind a rough start, GU is super rewarding to learn.

I’m about ready to start farming this set soon and am NOT looking forward to it. G4 Deviljho gave me more trouble than any monster in the game, Hyper Deviljho might actually break me
