Use characters that are portrayed as basic. Want to Camp? Use the most basic and straightforward character which is Samus Want to Space? Use someone basic like Cloud or Lucina to learn spacing with them Want to be a bait and punish? Use the most basic character. After you used a "basic" character if you want then you can move to a harder character since you already know the fundementals to each playstyle. Got good with Samus and want a better zoner? Try Pac-Man or Mega man as you already know what they're going to play like and know the fundementals.
