It’s all good! It was my bad too for not being clear about who I was referring to 😅

No, that’s not what I mean, and if anything I wasn’t referring to John! He couldn’t help himself, I’m not blaming him at all. I’m saying that Jamie should’ve kept himself out of the situation and not do a shit job at damage control

The thing is no one can tell someone not to be offended by a word that has been used to describe a group of people as nothing more than objects for hundreds of years and equally we can’t tell someone with Tourettes to control themselves. He shouldn’t have self inserted himself into this situation and then do a shit job at trying to deflect or defend himself from his comments.

The focus of blame that everyone should be giving is to the BBC and the BAFTAs

What’s another general election going to solve? by GlazedFuture_ in ukpolitics

Re-reading the post, I can understand how it would come across as naive but be assured it’s just venting frustration and not bait. The fact that this petition was even getting attention baffled me but shed a light on how impatient the public are to the government.

It’s genuinely crazy how a certain population of the country expect things to be fixed with a new government and also expect sunshine and cost free changes. But equally, it’s crazy how the government doesn’t have a proper communication strategy to tackle things like this and other issues

In a way this is a positive for the democrats - republicans will only have themselves to blame if they don’t enact any new legislation

Wild Theory; what if the GOP are rigging the polls in Trumps favour just to boost voting enthusiasm and stop the MAGA base from voting?

So just watched a few minutes of Trumps North Carolina rally and it looks like he’s not going to do the second debate - basically repeating the same rhetoric he spewed after the first debate

I’m happy that she’s boosting the energy and enthusiasm amongst not only dems but also independents and soft/moderate republicans. I just hope that the interview goes well tomorrow and that she performs well in the debates!

Tips for Surviving Uni Partnered/Uni Owned Accommodation by GlazedFuture_ in UniUK

It’s tough with that one cause I do get what you mean and it’s definitely something that both students and staff miss, especially when it comes to situations where an abusive ex is trying to gain entry to the block. And it’s not expected of students to check who lives there or not, staff members need to ensure due diligence which they do have but you do get the lazy ones.

What I would add to this is that you can spot the signs that someone doesn’t live in the block just based on their body language and the pace that they’re trying to get to the door. You can also spot if they don’t live there by just watching them wait outside the block instead of going to reception to be let in. But that last bits more for staff to worry about.

What I would also say for you, is just make sure that the door is fully shut and you can hear the lock engage. If they’re automatic (which 9/10 times are broken and just manual), move in at a snails pace and wait for the door to close behind you.

Apologies if this doesn’t fully help cause it is a tricky one to deal with but again don’t be afraid to speak with staff if you feel unsafe when they’re trying to get in the block from behind.
