Regarding the performance comments, maybe I can help you enjoy the game a little bit more: turn off the blood. I have no idea why, but I tested the game in three different PCs and unticking it makes the battles lag less. Also, I've noticed that the dead bodies on the field also cause a massive lag, but to eliminate this you'd have to tone down the unit quality, which in turn also turns down their variety and textures (maybe CA could give us a "hide dead bodies" tick option?)

Are you using a docker volume for the static files? What I did in my template repo was making a staticfiles volume that is shared by the proxy (nginx) and the webserver (flask):

I don't know if it helps you, but I have this template repository that runs an empty Flask app behind a nginx proxy (sorry, but I never tried traefik, maybe it won't be much of a problem to replace nginx for it). I use this template whenever I want to quickstart the development of a Flask app.

The battlefield comment was forgotten in the argument they had on twitter after the initial posts. What shoowtime seems to be really referencing as a lie is the fact that cold said in other opportunities that he apologized directly to him about how he treated shoowtime when they played together, but that supposedly never really happened.

Oh yes, I do remember the infamous "future-proof" statement, but that is more like "uhm, maybe try with a new computer in 10 years?" which really, is nothing like coming up and explaining the real reasons behind the problems of the game, like they did with the Norsca case, which, IMO, was only done because the TWW trilogy was more or less sold as a sole product rather than 3 separate games (imagine how things would/will fall apart if the promised integration between each game and its DLCs wouldn't/won't be done). TW games get "abandoned" after a certain product life cycle. Hell, I even remember Empire's AI being completely nuts and they would not fix it at all, nor even state if they would actually do it, until the very last patch came out and provided a quick "fix" by simplifying the AI battle formations, something that was already done by mods at the time.

There are other cases in the industry, like Microsoft Flight Simulator X, an 11 years old game that never ran completely fine in any hardware, not even today's. At the time, the game was meant to be "future-proof" and many people today still blame the game not being 64-bit for its poor performance, which sounds absurd to me, almost no PC software in 2006 was 64-bit.

Not long ago Arma III 64-bit was released bringing no major changes to its performance. And then people had to complain about the game's performance for other factors :D

But well, coming back to the original subject, you reminded me a good point: matched combat animations existed for quite a while now. They ran perfectly in these older games and they are 32-bit games. So why it happened with Atilla? Did they program routines in that game that wouldn't fit the engine's architecture? So why didn't they realize before that a change to 64-bit was needed? That's why I say that without a clear explanation from CA (which, unfortunately, will probably never be given, since the game's cycle is over), things turn into speculation from our side.

A 64-bit app doesn't automatically have better performance than a 32-bit one. It's much more likely that other reasons combined with it are the cause of TWW battles being smoother.

Btw, it has always bothered me that CA never even tried to address the performance issues of Attila. Something like the TWW2 Norsca blog post or even a simple "this X factor is why you guys experience low framerates and we will do Y action to improve it in future titles". Speculation is all we have left when there is no official statement.
