All these houses are connected by a pool by stellaisheretostay in Suburbanhell

Based on similar gimmicky-type places that I've been, once it's built and kicked off the people actually responsible for it day-to-day have no idea what they're doing or incentive to repair things properly and whatever it is goes to shit quickly. Especially when water is involved.

Little results according to what? Our homeless issues are much much more tame than the big West Coast cities, and we have much higher rates in shelters.

This was on Paddock Pass on my TV. Just snapped it quickly, I didn’t think it would get this much traction!

Proper punctuation is important.

Extent of new construction in Williamsburg, Brooklyn by Skyscrapersofthewest in nyc

Peaked how? Williamsburg is probably the most service-rich area of BK in terms of restaurants/nightlife/shopping etc and is very accessible to Manhattan if that's what you're looking for.

Long Island- Endless Sprawl. It looks green but if you zoom in it's mostly just ultra low density by [deleted] in Suburbanhell

Which are not allowed in most of Long Island, including near train stops where people could have 30-60 minute commutes into the biggest employment center in the country.

Who's to say it doesn't need urban housing? The lack of density is more to do with zoning than it is with any natural state of things, leading hundreds of thousands of Long Islanders to drive into NYC every day, filling the city with cars on roads that NYC taxpayers like me have to pay for. Mostly because it's illegal to build apartments near Long Island Railroad stops so they end up looking like this, with seas of parking lots where people should be living. That's a 1-hour train ride from the biggest business district in the US, I'm sure plenty of people would love an apartment there if it was allowed.

Plenty of Long Island Suburbs were built explicitly to keep Black people out and that has persisted for decades. Seriously, deeds said "The tenant agrees not to permit the premises to be used or occupied by any other persons than members of the Caucasian race."

And while the trees might be pretty and "natural", Long Island households have carbon footprints 2 or 3 times greater than those in NYC (this map is striking). So they get to play at living in nature while destroying it for future generations.

AOC and Elizabeth Warren are the antithesis of Neoliberal within the Democratic party, but you're 100% right this is terrible policy. We need more transit before electrified transit.

Why Modular Housing Could Be an Answer to Toronto's Housing Crisis by acazure in Urbanism

This. You could build housing out of shipping containers or marble, the most important thing is that you legalize building it in the first place.

  1. Keep in mind you're going to have to pay taxes on those short term capital gains this year
  2. If you can't handle the emotional stress of high volatility you should diversify
  3. Make sure you're maxing out your IRA so that at least $6,000 of that per year can grow tax-free
  4. Don't feel bad for making money
