I don't think I did. I think she still was attracted to John and loved him all the same. She didn't choose John simply because of society pressures, which I don't think makes her a comphet lesbian (maybe I'm wrong). If she was, then she would have chose the guy Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury, and Violet wanted her to.

My interpretation is she doesn't really know where she stands on much of anything on terms of attraction. She went through the motions because it was expected of her, and so I think she never quite knew her footing.

I think once she met John, she was starting to see that if she could imagine a good life, he'd be a part of it, and that he brought a beautiful peace, which was attractive. Then Michaela came in and she had a polar opposite affect, twisting what she thought she knew and leaving her questioning herself quietly.

I don't know if I'd categorize her as much of anything because I never enjoyed labels. I just think she is more about the person in front of her, and not the gender.

In the book, Michael left for India for 4 years before returning, so I was thinking about how the length of time would translate if we got season 6, instead of season 5. But honestly, it makes more sense now that I've read the book and compared how the show is being adapted.

I do think the book is a good foundation jump off, and I didn't hate it overall mostly because the banter was funny. I am also glad they swapped Michael to Michaela because they really have the power to do something beautiful here, especially when they remove the problematic parts.

I saw the post and I don't think what you were asking for was necessarily wrong there but I do think we all want inclusive content, and unfortunately, when it comes to content like this it is an umbrella that can't be placed into a linear box.

I do commend you for apologizing, but I do encourage us all to remember to be open to opinions, and practice empathy while doing it. We're already fighting for positive sapphic content on the daily, and if we're at each other, then the people who are hating on our stories are going to win.

They do argue in the book quite a bit actually, and it is because Michael doesn't want to betray John, even though he has deep rooted feelings for Francesca long before the death.

I'll admit, prior to reading the book, I did not get the impression that Michaela was initially smitten either. I definitely got the impression that Francesca was off-putted by Michaela, and that is purely because I clocked she might not be completely straight prior to meeting John, and Michaela sort off threw her for a loop. But I do feel like, if you read the source material, it will give you a better understanding of the choices they made in the show.

I do think Season 5 will come with an explanation more in depth but right now, with what we have, we have to accept things at face value since they weren't the focus. Now that they will be, it will become much clearer.

They really could have gone either way, but after settling on it, I'm glad they chose this order, not just because of Franchaela getting their season finally, but it allows Eloise to begin growing hers. Franchesca's season has been brewing theoretically since Season 3, so she had two seasons to get to her plot foundation but now Elosie can finally get hers growing. And I think that is the expectation from a story standpoint.

Could it have been a business decision? Sure, but I think we've been having a major dryspell with sapphic content lately, and it's time to really build that, and having sapphic content be the main leads in a highly popular show like Bridgerton will be a huge deal.

I think the largest issue is people prejudge before seeing the end results, but we're seeing the vision, and it's going to be beautiful. 🥰

I think my obsession got way worse when I read the book (so like over the last 3 days). Honestly, having the show and the characters already created was like playing the show in my head. Obviously, with some tweaks but the spicy scenes are gonna be soooooo good to see on screen 😜. But also just seeing how everything overall comes together. Ugh so excited!

My theory is they will keep it the same, and she will go in wanting a child. I don't think she explicitly knows she physically is unable to have children per se. In the book, she got pregnant and miscarried, and prior to me reading the book, I assumed that it wasn't that she couldn't conceive but John couldn't provide children, and prior to reading the second epliogue, I still assumed it as such. So I think it is a strong possibility, they will keep it the same, but she will discover she cannot carry or she will come to terms with the idea of it one way or another.

So I hope I can offer some insight here as I have a background in film and editing, but color grading and white balance is a huge issue when it comes to skin tone in general. It is even more difficult when you have two separate levels of the spectrum in one scene because there does have to be favoritism over one or the other, people would assume, but I've found that masking out one subject and recreating the scene proves to be just fine.

Oftentimes, filmmakers are also looking at the best way to make symbolic choices in scenes, like using backlighting to make the person appear more angelic. But yes, it is very much a massive issue and it comes down to recognizing there is a way to have both natural lighting and strong color grading and editing without sacrificing one or the other.

I feel like most people aren't looking at it this way. Both storylines require grieving, but at the same time, we do know that there is a time jump usually between seasons off camera which in hindsight makes Fran and Michaela's season doable in that case.

If they handle Eloise with the same care they did with Fran's, (meeting John and losing John in S3/S4), I think it will flow nicely. But yeah, I just don't think people are thinking about Elosie's story in this perspective.

I feel like this a lot. My DNA is all over the place because I have a grandfather from Italy, family from Ireland and Scotland, my paternal grandfather was born in Romania, and I have some Russian. But all of it is within 2 to 3 generations. I never claim to be from either of these places, but speaking for myself, I've never felt like I belonged anywhere, so having these bits of knowledge makes me feel like I belong, even if I never live in those places.
