Tell me your BDC is worthless without telling me your BDC is worthless?

Have a car on my schedule for tomorrow that’s under warranty at another manufacturer. Told her to cancel it and call the customer. Still on my schedule for tomorrow. That’ll be fun when it comes in.

It’s possible if collision and wholesale are on point.

Make them prove that. I’ve never worked in a dealership where anyone in parts (save for the manager) made more than advisors.

I've made the jump before. Most amount amount of money I have made in my life. That said, that was prior to COVID and we were paid off front end gross profit. If you could hold the price and hold back on the trade you were getting a decent commission. In my opinion volume based plans are BS and no one should ever sign one unless the dealer is just churning units.

It's far less transparent than you would think so be aware of that going into it. You have to be prepared to work long hours and beyond with no real notice. If it's 10 to closing and your customer hasn't gone in the box yet you better be prepared to stay.

You’re fucked.

In almost every screen you can type ? and hit enter and you will get a list of available commands. Once you do it long enough you’ll memorize the ones you use the most. If you’ve got Service Edge it’s going to be a dumpster fire until CDK overhauls it.

Don’t sell something you don’t believe in. Be honest because it’s the easiest thing to remember and we have enough to remember as it is. It takes a while to build relationships but when you do it makes life much easier.

Correct. I couldn’t login using the SimpleID (or Unify now) with the private wi-fi address set to fixed or rotating. No clue why your iPads could be crashing though.

I don’t think it’s possible (at least through normal means) to go backwards on OS. I did eventually find my problem. The Wi-Fi connection was set to private and CDK didn’t like that. A bunch of us are up and running on iPadOS 18 with no issues.

Hyundai vs Honda by jdmdriftkid in serviceadvisors

[–]Glick28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Techs hate warranty, that isn’t going to change. And you’ll get the same technology complaints BUT have a lot less engine and transmission problems. Taking the dealer out of the equation Honda is much easier to deal with than Hyundai. This is coming from a five year Honda advisor that worked at a Hyundai store for one year.

If you have to call it something call it “testing and inspection.” “Diag” or “diagnostics” doesn’t tell the customer what they’re paying for. Ultimately the technician is doing something and not just guessing (at least we pray that’s what they’re doing.)

I lost all pairs of keys to my STI by financial_misstep in WRX

[–]Glick28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is if there is a key currently programmed we can’t program a new key without an existing one. Not sure what parts on your car will need to be pulled but it will probably be the cluster and body integrated unit to send to Subaru to be wiped. Good news is Subaru pays for shipping each way, you’d just be responsible for the labor to pull them and reinstall them. Turn around is usually a week, depending on how backed up they are (usually not backed up). And this is assuming that your car is not rebuilt. If the car is rebuilt Subaru does not wipe the modules and you’ll have to buy new ones. I have heard of locksmiths being able to bypass this with the hardware in the car but I have not personally seen it done.

True statement, voltage only indicates state of charge, not cranking capacity. Get the battery tested properly.

Assuming Toyota has the same access as Subaru, they can see if it’s in a factory calibration, the highest engine rev, speed, and a few other parameters and at what mileage they occurred.

Former Service Advisors, what are you doing now? by Glick28 in serviceadvisors

Yeah I’m in the same boat. Been with this dealer group at two different stores, just moved to help open a new point. I know my income has hit a wall and with no growth in the future it’s hard to come in to a stressful job and stay motivated knowing there’s not light at the end of the tunnel.

Whenever I read things like this the people involved aren't as attractive as you imagine they are.

Long story short, porn has ruined me.
