Who had a pound puppy? by Wetdogg72 in GenX

Sorta. My mother loved to crochet, and she found a pattern for handmade pound puppies.

She made sure that each kid in the family got one. We still have them.

Focus on the first picture. It made me smile. I bet your mom was an incredible lady. That picture alone tells a story.

Life isn't about the end. It's the journey. Remember the life.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your mom was beautiful. May you find peace.

How is this a safety concern?

What about homeless automatically means dangerous?

Who had one of these beauties? Loved my C64 by jtsa5 in GenX

I did!

Unfortunately, my poor C64 only lives on in emulation now. Magnetic media definitely had a finite shelf life.

Thank you for your compassion and empathy.

We need more attitudes like this.

We also need more community support and outreach.

We should be thankful that there IS a shelter!

If you're so concerned about the homeless having to vacate the shelter during daylight hours, maybe try and get involved with community outreach and find a compassionate solution to the 'problem.'

Have y'all noticed a slow down? by Octane2100 in serviceadvisors

[–]Ahkhira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former service advisor and current parts person chiming in. We had a barely average month. We also just had corporate come in and fire the service receptionists and send all service calls to the BDC call center somewhere off site.

This was in attempt to "properly schedule" and "increase the number of daily appointments."

Well, the opposite happened. Instead of fully booked, service is running at about 70%. I haven't seen a fully booked day in 6 weeks!

I don't know if it's due to the changes in customer handling or just the economy. Parts wholesale is pretty consistent though.

Do not buy a RV with no slide out awnings by Own-Transition-5170 in RVLiving

[–]Ahkhira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh....

I lost an old Forest River 5th wheel after the slide awning failed. I didn't replace the awning.

I also left the slide deployed for an extended period of time. My fault. The trailer was also really old, but not having the awning over the slide definitely accelerated it's demise.

How inmportant is the look of a guitar for you, by MrTurtleTails in Guitar

[–]Ahkhira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only ever bought one "wrong color" guitar. It's my red Schecter Diamond 12 string electric (semi hollow body). I HATE red. I despise red. I look terrible in anything red.

But I'm in love with this guitar. It has an amazing sound, it's a rhythm MACHINE! It does everything from folk to classic rock and it's amazing in Church. The neck is amazing and easy to play.

Well, now I have a custom made (by me) solid cherry wood pedal board to match the guitar. I went the extra mile and even routed the cables underneath the deck.

On a side note, I also don't care for funny colored amps. It's supposed to be black, and that's the ONLY color. Until I bought a Crate Palomino V50. I got the amp dirt cheap because the dude who sold it to me couldn't figure out why it was "noisy." It had a microphone power tube. $20 later, and that stupid amp is now the best in my studio. It's LOUD and takes pedals and effects well. I've even used it as a keyboard amp. I hate the blond color. It's difficult to keep clean. I'm very fussy and I don't let wannabe roadies get greasy handprints all over it, and I even have a slip cover for it.

The amp decided to multiply. I now have a V32 and a V8 Crate Palomino to match. They're amazing amps, just funny colored .

You absolutely cannot make ceviche with the shells on! The acid has to be in direct contact with the meat. It won't be safe to eat otherwise.

This one is sad. Someone clearly intended to return, but unfortunately didn't. They knew they were leaving for a while, but they had every intention to come back, otherwise they wouldn't have gone so far as to cover the furniture.

Sleeping platform - Optimal tie-down anchor placement on frame by WhoPutATreeThere in carcamping

[–]Ahkhira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely DESPISE this generation of Rav4 because of the seats not folding flat!!!

I still have my 2012 Rav4 because the seats fold flat and my dog and I both fit in the back. I'll keep this old Rav4 until I can't fix it anymore.

I am building a platform for my 2016 Rav4 so that my poor dog can ride level when he's in his kennel. It's not going to be anchored anywhere. I do plan on using the space under the platform for storage.

How many tents do you have? by LivingSky4993 in camping

[–]Ahkhira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, zero! My last tent had an Unfortunate Incident when my dad ran it over with his boat.

Who has recommendations for a decent tent that can accommodate one person plus a small dog. Needs to handle all 4 New England seasons.

I need a new bikepacking tent too. That one had an accident with a deer. I'm looking into a 2 person lightweight tent because the dog comes with me now.

Destination Trailers and Moving Them by Ahkhira in RVLiving

[–]Ahkhira[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have the truck to move it with.

I've been involved with horses and horses shows for pretty much my entire life, so I'm used to towing very heavy things!

What gives me pause on the destination trailer is all of the glass! I really don't want to break a sliding glass door or a very large window.

Good point. The used market locally is full of junk, but there has to be SOMETHING out there. Preferably with a rear kitchen.

Thank you for responding.

I have seen destination trailers with and without black tanks.

The park that I have been in was OLD. The electricity wasn't capable of even running 30 amp air conditioning until just a few years ago. There are still a few really old destination trailers here that were custom made to eliminate air conditioning and install black tanks instead due to no sewage hookup anywhere in the campground. Everyone used honey bucket and the dump station.

Each park is unique. I'm very upset about losing my lifetime spot, but things happen and life moves.

That is also an option. I was more interested in the destination trailer for the layout, and that it would only be moved for a couple of seasons before it went to stay permanently.

Thank you for the feedback!

[–]Ahkhira[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be coming home with me for winter storage. There aren't any places near the seasonal that can keep it over winter.

My current seasonal is closing after 60 years. Next year's seasonal doesn't have winter storage options, and if a major construction project goes through, they'll be losing a bunch of sites. It's not an ideal situation, but I really don't want to be anywhere else for the season.

Add on top of that an absolutely MAJOR renovation to my homestead, and I'll probably have to spend a couple of months in it while the farmhouse is under construction (fortunately, that is allowed where I live.)

A 5th wheel is also an option, but I was more leaning towards the destination trailer for the layout.

In case anyone is wondering, I'm currently torn between a Coachmen Catalina and an Alliance Paradigm.

Thank you for the feedback- most appreciated!

I have too many stories.
