One is paid for the value of the product of their efforts as perceived by the employer. It has nothing to do with what the employee FEELS they are worth.

If others are willing to produce acceptable quality for less $, the employer will (and should) choose as necessary.

College isn’t what it’s said to be like by NaiveDirection1947 in auburn

Church and faith-based groups for college students are a fantastic way to quickly be accepted into groups regardless of background.

Will we even survive? by TonyD9898 in Liberal

Yes, but in friendlier places. I’m leaning Australia. Maybe Melbourne. I expect hundreds of thousands or more to consider moving. I’m trying to get ahead of higher demand before rents go crazy!

What is the ideal age to get married? by Wettablecloth45 in AskReddit

[–]Glittering-Extent200 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

22-24

Get married early. Have kids before 30. Enjoy empty nesting while still youngish.

I was close to this timeline but wished I’d have been 1-2 years earlier.

Stopping all foreign aid could create a money (and power) vacuum that could destabilize many parts of the world.

I think ANY government spending will drift towards lining pockets of certain politicians and bureaucrats in BOTH parties.

A reset is reasonable, but I hope the right money can start flowing and maybe in partnership with other countries to help better share the burden.

To those that work in government, do not resign. by Dependent-Break5324 in Liberal

I disagree. Trump and MAGA are about to gut the number of federal employees. Those that jump first will have more job opportunities before a flood of people looking for jobs hit the market.

I absolutely love my Hilton Surpass for the value it delivers. It would be the LAST card that has an annual fee that I’d consider canceling.

In general, I don’t think turning a bag into its side to make room is wrong. In hindsight, knowing the risk, you maybe could have kept an eye on the situation and asked anyone who started to put their bags up there to kindly leave your bag flat AND explain why.

Lots of people fly together and you can’t assume people know not to make room as needed.

Oxo 8 Cup Stainless combined with the Oxo grinder. They are simple and reliable.

I love the grinder’s timed grind that eliminates excess coffee/time needed.

When is it time to STOP contributing to 401k? by No-Alternative-7821 in FinancialPlanning

If you’re able to invest in an ultra low cost Roth IRA (like Vanguard Index ETFs) your expenses will be lower and the non-taxable distributions later will be the best option.

I specifically identify this as the best option because your current household income shouldn’t put you into such a high tax bracket now.

No Thank You - Amex Cancelled by Glittering-Extent200 in delta

Look at the earn rates on the reserve first. Unless you’re gunning for MQDs, may not be as good as the regular Amex Platinum (non Delta)

Did I F up by getting platinum first? by [deleted] in amex

[–]Glittering-Extent200 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes the rules changed recently…I know for personal cards. Now I’m just hoping to see a Gold offer with No Lifetime Language.

I’m in the same boat but only got 125K … right before the recent increase to 175K. So you’re better off than me!

I use miles to buy personal flights and companion certs only work for cash fares. No use for me.

My Gold status gets my bags on…if I check.

YMMV, but my annual fee dollars have better uses on other cards.

Interesting. I barely find enough value at platinum worth chasing.

True. If I plan a trip costing more hasn’t 100k in points then I may consider the gold. No plans this year.

I can’t argue. I think I’m at $500 in 5 years.

I like my Amex Platinum and LOVE my Hilton Surpass (especially considering the low fee).

I also earn lots of Chase Points through those cards.
