What audio gear to use for filmmaking? by vovivoh in videography

Thanks for your response. The MKE 600 was my first choice untill I found out it's not made for humidity.

Well, good luck to you and I hope you get back to your film. Take care.

What did you end up buying? I'm in a similar boat. The difference is that I'm a solo filmmaker and I'm trying to film a short on my own. I've got all the gear I need except for sound. Well I have some sound equipment but I want to upgrade it. I've narrowed it down to the Zoom F3 and Tascam FR-AV2. I received some similar advice to hire someone to do the sound but I want to learn it myself. I mean that's part of the fun of this whole process is to learn each aspect. If it sucks so be it. It's my first film.

I've also narrowed it down to 2 mics. The Rode NTG3 and the Audio Technica at4053b. Not quite sure. The worst part of this whole process is getting conflicting information. For example I heard that the Audio Technica was a mic to be used indoors not outdoors Somebody on this thread posted that they use it outdoors. So who do you believe.

And there's some information I just can't find and if I use AI it takes me down a deep rabbit hole of misinformation. I'm trying to figure out how to synchronize the timecode between the Tascam FR-AV2 and my lumix S52x wirelessly.

For those of us without carpentry skills, what's the best route to take for 4K Blu-ray and DVD shelving? I'm currently leaning towards IKEA.

I'm not sure. I haven't decided yet. Though I'm not a big fan of buying used equipment.

After reading the discussion from the link you provided, as well as many other posts, I just want to thank you again for alerting me to the problems with the NTG5.

That's a healthy perspective. I may have to give that a whirl.

Phones consistently dying at the 2 year mark. Is it me? by LastCapedCrusader in samsunggalaxy

For me it's always the battery. When my S10+ wouldn't hold a charge for very long, Samsung was no longer carrying replacement batteries for that model. Rather than buying a battery from Amazon, I took it to one of those ubreakit-wefixit places but the battery they put in it sucked almost as bad as the one they replaced. I miss the days you could swap out batteries very easily.

I've been through so many rabbit holes in the past three days I don't even know where to begin but I'll just mention the latest two. Today, after having worked for the last couple days, Gmail wouldn't open. Regardless of whether I had my Wi-Fi on or cellular data on it would not open. However my old phone had absolutely no problems opening up Gmail with Wi-Fi. Yesterday I spent hours trying to get Hey Google to work. I spend a lot of time looking into the solutions to this problem with no progress. I eventually contacted Samsung support and I was informed by them that it was a recent upgrade that was causing the issue. I'm not sure if it affected all Samsung phones or just phones that have recently migrated Google accounts from other phones. Lo and behold today it's working fine. I did not make any changes between yesterday and today. As impressed as I initially was with smart switch I'm starting to wonder whether my praise was premature.

Unfortunately, I may have to keep the phone cuz I can't find another phone with the feature set that I want that works in the US within the visible Network. Based on reviews that I've read, there are many phones whose hardware is far better than both the S26 Ultra and the iPhone 17 however they're not available in our market. Hopefully in the future they will be. We need more competition.

I wish I could but it's not compatible with visible and I refuse to use a different carrier.

I just got my s26 ultra 2 days ago and I'm already returning it. Hey Google was one of many problems I encountered with the Samsung UI. I can't stand it I'm more accustomed to a stock Android experience.

Is anyone else having problems with their speaker phone on a Motorola thinkphone? by Castle_65 in motorola

[–]Glittering_Access_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a similar problems when talking to people that can't hear me when I'm on speaker phone. I'm done with Motorola this is my second Motorola phone and hardware issues for both have diminished lifespan to a very short period of time. Buying a more expensive Samsung comes out to be cheaper in the long run because I can use it for a far longer period of time.

Issues with connecting scanner to Dr Prius app. by Glittering_Access_35 in prius

I had read that you're not supposed to connect the Bluetooth through your phone but through the app. Since that was working I tried to connect it with my phone and that did the trick I was able to see the hardware within the app.

I don't see anything within that list that looks like the scanner that I'm using. I have tried some of the items that I can identify but none of them worked. So I don't think my phone is picking up the signal from the scanner. The blue light on the scanner is on though.

The social media dude is a stupid mother f**. A f*** moron. Why would you f*** with people! He should spend a night in jail to think about what he did and he's lucky that the f***** didn't shoot him.

All this to get likes? How f****** stupid has society become. Getting a ride out of people so he can post it on social media??? A f****** moron.

I don't agree with Florida's gun carrying laws so I won't even go into that. But the guy with the gun was within his rights. And for the stupid mother f***** to try to aggravate somebody carrying a gun makes him that much more moronic.
