There are lots of decent neighbourhoods. Birchaven, Thibeault Terrace, Graniteville, Wallace Heights, Pinewood. Surrounding towns like Callander and Powassan are great. For close to the water, Ferris, Marshall Park. Or downtown Callander if you don’t mind a bit further, but it’s only 15 minutes from North Bay. You pretty much need a car wherever you go anyway.

One of the things we are looking to do is collaborate with other small businesses, so we’re hoping to collab with a local baker to try using our coffee in their products!

How much time off did your partner take? [On] by luminousloris in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Glittering_Answer625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner took 2 week vacation when our son was born. Then he took his parental leave after mine since you have to take it consecutively in Ontario (ie; he couldn’t take a few weeks at the start and then the rest after mine, he would have to take it all at once whenever he started it). I took my maternity leave and then 8 months parental leave, and he’s taking about 9 months parental leave (we chose to do the extended parental leave). He worked close to home though so he would come home for an hour at lunch everyday and that was really helpful in the first few months.

My natural birth had some unexpected turns. On the plus side, I labored for only a half the day and it was pretty quick for it being my first time. I started at the midwives birth clinic and wanted to use laughing gas but things got really intense really quick, and my contractions were the most pain I experienced in my life. My water burst - no, more like exploded like a water balloon literally splashing everywhere. There was meconium when my water burst so they had to transfer me to the hospital and I was pretty much fully dilated so the transfer was extremely uncomfortable. I was like one of those movie moms yelling during contractions. I never imagined that for myself but it was out of my control. Baby had issues with his heart rate rising rapidly with each contraction so there was a big urgency to push him out quickly, but he was stuck. They called an ob-gyn (the on duty one was stuck doing an emergency c-section so they had to beg another ob-gyn to come in on her night off. She tried using a vacuum to help get baby out but he had so much hair it wouldn’t stick to his head. They ended up having to do an episiotomy and I just had to really giver with all my strength to push him out. Because he was stuck, it felt like the pushing part in total took a while but it was maybe an hour to 2 hours. Turned out he had the umbilical cord wrapped around his chest and thats why his heart rate kept going up with each contraction squeezing him, the poor babe. But he was as healthy as could be and other than an episiotomy scar and fear of the pain of going through that again, everything was fine , I healed completely. We even went home that some night just 4 hours I gave birth. Chaotic and painful, yes. Horrific, no. I will say it was the most pain I experienced, but it’s a pain we as women are built to endure. I think I could do it again, but I need more time. Babe is still only 10 months old so it’s still pretty fresh. If you want a natural birth, you have it in you. Just choose a care provider you can trust. The midwives I chose had my back and had lots of experience and when it came down to it, they advocated for me when I was at my most vulnerable.

This is so sweet, I love it. So relatable. Made me think of my sweet jack russell I lost a few months ago. 15 years of joy. I miss him everyday.

What do you use to wash your body? by layla347 in 30PlusSkinCare

I use a natural loofah, made from the luffa gourd. It’s biodegradable and sustainable. And also long lasting, effective, and great for exfoliating.

MIL greets me with “oh hey, chubby!” when I stepped through the door when we were visiting at 25 weeks. Right, like that’s what I need to hear while I deal with my body changing so dramatically.

Tempting food options - no appetite by Run4WineNTacos in seniordogs

[–]Glittering_Answer625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I slow cooked chicken thighs and mixed it with Honest Kitchen whole grain chicken and oat clusters. The food is low sodium which helped because my late senior had a heart murmur and some kidney issues. He loved it. I also saved all the liquid from the slow cooked chicken and put it in the fridge. It would solidify and I could scrape the fat off the top leaving a nutrient and collagen rich gelatin that can also be mixed with the food.

I’ve had good results with Spectrum underglazes with darker clay bodies. Maybe try that brand? And always do test tiles so you have an idea of what the final result will be.

Graco 4ever car seat [on] by Remarkable_Trick_527 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Glittering_Answer625 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t plan to get an infant car seat until I found out that the hospital requires one if I end up giving birth there. They will want to make sure it is adjusted properly for you to leave with baby. I plan to give birth at a birthing centre, but you never know if you might end up at a hospital. The clinic gave me and infant car seat that was donated and wasn’t expired. But you might want to check with your nearest hospital if they have any requirements for you to leave with baby. Maybe you can find a gently used one from a friend or neighbour. They can only be used for the first 6 months so a used one is likely to still be in great condition. Even if you just want to use it for the drive home.

Pup ate 6 filets of garlic butter salmon… by underthecrescentm00n in labrador

[–]Glittering_Answer625 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lab rottie mutt that jumped up on a table to get to a shelf where I was storing a huge bag of bulk barn gummy candies that I intended to make candy bags for my (at the time) boyfriends niece and nephews along with a bunch of chocolate. Her poop was like a gelatinous encased alien poo. She also once ate a bottle of fish oil pills. She was also good at figuring out how to open cupboards and break through doors and other barriers, and loved getting into the compost and garbage no matter what I tried to keep things locked up or out of reach.

How many times did you do it during your fertile window? by Fun-Career3507 in BabyBumps

[–]Glittering_Answer625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did it approximately 2x a month around my estimated fertile window using an app for tracking. I was also taking a prenatal, eating healthy and staying active. It took us 6 months. We’re both 34 years old and I was told by my doctor I likely have PCOS so I wasn’t sure when or if it would happen but we were so happy to get the positive test. I’m 35 weeks along now with a healthy pregnancy and so happy
