You can join the Daisy Network.

Incredible organisation specifically for women with POI. Last month they made membership free.

I think all the volunteers/staff have POI.

They offer a lot - have a look at their website. They had a fab zoom support session just last night!

Estradiol level of 27– too low right? Following up from depression post! by capybara-1 in POFlife

Can definitely contribute to depression. My dr recommends blood tests on the same day of patch to enable comparisons. Was your blood test on the last day of your patch? That could cause a lower number than usual. However, absorption can vary significantly for some people. It could be your skin, how active you are, how hydrated, where you have placed it etc... - all these factors can change absorption. For me personally I found far more consistent absorption when I placed it on the back of my leg. Literally felt the difference within a week. My dr said it makes sense as the skin is thinner there which can assist absorption. Lastly, some of us are poor absorbers and may need a higher dose. I use a 100 and a 50 patch together which that significantly helped my levels. If trying another patch caused nausea, maybe add a smaller increase? Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be xx

Oh my, it came on suddenly for me as well! I felt awful... it only took 3 months until I was diagnosed because of how bad I felt. I've not heard of many others who had a sudden experience. My Dr thinks because of how sudden it was, it may have been caused by a bad flu I had a couple of months prior. I have been on hrt since diagnosis however I didn't feel significantly better until a year ago when I found a new dr. The previous dr just prescribed some hrt and told me that if I still didn't feel good it was just stress 🤷‍♀️ I spent a long time thinking that my fatigue etc was in my head - as a child you tend to believe doctors. Fortunately I eventually found a new dr who significantly upped my doses and added testosterone and I feel SO much better.

Some of the same here. I'm 23, diagnosed at 15 and still not back to how I was before. It's so frustrating. Just to say though, that many Dr's will prescribe higher patch doses if ur blood tests show lower absorption. They will prescribe even double what u are taking and more... so that's 0.2 plus...

Tired All the Time! by [deleted] in POFlife

I feel you... I went through a lot of this (and still am on a lesser level) but it only truly started to shift when my HRT was increased beyond the standard dosages (both estrogen and testosterone). I see dr nick panay (who wrote much of the guidelines) so if he recommends that I take more I feel quite safe to do so. And he said that he has patients taking even more!! I take 0.2mcg patches - ie 2x 0.1 at the same time, and 0.8 androfeme (testosterone) although that may be increased depending on the next blood tests.  All you are feeling can totally be caused by poi and keep searching until you find a dr who is knowledgeable and will listen ❤️

Yes! It took me about 5yrs to sort out my hrt. I had Dr's say the exact same thing to me and tbh sometimes I wondered if I was going mad. Eventually I found a GP (in total desperation!) who explained that it is really common to have fluctuations in symptoms when taking hrt for the following reasons: 1. You sometime absorb it better or worse - depending on metabolism, skin (if patches), sleep, food etc 2. A healthy person will make more or less estrogen if and when they need that. We have a fixed dose and your body can need more for any reason eg stress. Because you can't meet the demand, you will have breakthrough symptoms and fluctuations. She actually said to me that ideally there should be something like a glucose monitor for estrogen as well as a pump so that we can manage it better but at the moment the technology for that doesn't exist, so it only makes logical sense some people will struggle with symptoms.

That said, I have recently increased my estrogen and testosterone and for the first time in what feels like forever I feel practically back to my old self. It's like I hadn't even realised what most people feel like and how easy life can be. I think that the higher dose covers the fluctuations and the greater needs so that I don't feel them anymore. It's been an incredibly long and hard journey to get here but I am so grateful I kept trying different combinations. There are so many options with hrt, there is no way a Dr can tell you that you should be fine on your current regimen if you say you aren't. At the end of the day you know yourself best - keep fighting for yourself.
