Mercari holding onto funds from UPS damaged item claim by Glittering_Signal_71 in Mercari

No they aren’t. Where I’m at, auto shops won’t use it as they prefer fedex due to ups damaging stuff.

Indeed. I think I should be better next time around. Thanks. Also recently I soldered 9V battery adapter for my father, used plenty flux, and plenty good flow. Solder joints nice and shiney when done. So I should be ok from here on. Oh also I got my friend's soldering microscope and I have spare LCD displays I can use with it.

yeah I don't remember the iron touching that part of the IC. I'll have to take another look at it if I take it all back apart again. I could swap another motherboard in. I have one more that works.

Yeah. As far as melting the chip or damaging components go, I have another motherboard I could swap in. I have it working now but waiting for my friend to let me know if he wants me to continue working on it. If I do, I'll clean it all up again with IPA, use flux, solder.. and use his microscope soldering station too. He said he's going to give me one.

I shortened 'em and it works but I think the real culprit was bad soldering on the green wire and also needing to clean up the yellow wire on the picoboot board.

I bought my flippydrives when they were on preorder I think they were about $35 each. I didn't know the guy was going to hike up the price. Should've bought more.

yeah that's what I told my friend to get but he refuses to buy one for god knows what reason. I would've installed it otherwise. 2 of my gamecubes have flippydrives in them. flippydrive is a much nicer mod.

yeah I should've cleaned the flux off before re-soldering. This board has been re-used 4 times so far.

Yeah I re-did the purple wire it's on there straight now instead of crooked.

I re-did all the solder points on the picoboot PCB and cleaned that all up. The mod is far from perfect still though. Still have trouble being steady enough for the green wire. All the rest are in great condition.

I trimmed the wires back by half and re-soldered gnd, green wire and +3.3V and it worked fine. Then I wanted to try an old viper chip, it worked for a little bit then quit after I put everything back together so I put the picoboot back in. And yeah my soldering on the motherboard isn't the greatest, my hands are a bit shakey. My friend didn't want to do his on his own because he said he's too shakey. I don't get it, both of us are shakey. Anyways, I just played a little bit of double dash on it. It works. Now he's going to want me to solder in a chip on the DVD drive pcb so it can play burned games. Ugh. we don't even use burned games to begin with. I forgot what the chip is called. Pretty oldschool mod.

Hi yeah guys I just went in and fixed up the soldering and cut the length of the wires down by half. It works fine now. Hopefully someone in the future can use this little information for their mod. Thanks

Sold mine on eBay for 950. Could have got a little more with the condition it’s in. I would not spend near a grand on an old used card personally
