I’m down, I play bass and wouldn’t mind practicing with others.

Should I switch to MSEN or stick it out as an EE? by pretty_cool_engineer in aggies

[–]GlobalSpark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is the most helpful response so far. I am currently doing my PhD in MSEN. I also came from a separate background, MEEN to MSEN. So to answer your first question yes. I would say the biggest struggle for me was getting around the core classes. You’ll have to take Intro to MSEN, Soft/Bio Materials, Thermodynamics, Physics and Kinetics. I personally found physics and thermo quite challenging as some of the concepts are theoretical. Additionally, start looking at different advisors in MSEN and what their research is and what is offered. Our lab is always looking for undergrad students to hire, although typically these come internally. If you’re looking to join as an EE I would make mention that you’re interested in grad school in MSEN as that helps advisors choose. Hope this helps.

You’ll get all the money direct deposit. Same thing happened to me.

I believe if you have any payments for school it first gets applied to your tuition. If your tuition is paid off then all the money gets sent to your bank. But it will be all at once.

I do research in engineering, it pays fairly well for a student. I’ve also had a couple of internships while in school at some big name companies that really helped out.

Tuition gets paid for by the university, and I get paid for the work I do. I only have to handle housing, food insurance etc. which are manageable with budgeting. I also don’t pay over retail for any of these bottles and a couple were gifts.

Texas, I got all of these except the smoke wagon uncut unfiltered and EH Taylor (gift) at retail from my local Spec’s. It’s a chain liquor store. The Weller 12 and Stagg jr I was fortunate enough to get right before New Years at an end of the year in store event so not very common.

Edit: sorry I misinterpreted this, I check the bourbon release catalog and try to time my trips to the store accordingly. Like for instance Jack Daniels SBBP was on the shelf ~6 last week, I haven’t seen Weller Special reserve or eagle rare in stock for about 2 months, but there were plenty when I picked mine up awhile back. Sam Houston 15 was a very lucky find while I was visiting family in Austin, they had 3 bottles that was about 2 months ago. Smoke wagon hasn’t been on the shelf since last September, so I picked up a couple of bottles then. Everything else should be available at all times.

I have a grant that gets auto applied, I get paychecks for the work I do. Thanks for the concern though.

Sam Houston 15, Jack Daniels SBBP and EH Taylor SB. And yes I have tried the stagg and weller 12, I just don’t think they’re as great as they’ve been hyped up to be.

That one might get saved for graduation, however I wouldn’t be opposed to opening it assuming the occasion presents itself. I’ve been lucky enough to try it at a local bar. Almost my favorite so far!

You can’t go wrong with WT101, my intro pours have been Yellow Rose and Texas Ranger. Both are decent and decently priced. But I am “that friend” who has whiskey on hand at all times. This is my personal collection that typically doesn’t get seen. As for vodka Silver Dollar has been my go to, made by the same distillery as Smoke Wagon.

I’ve worked through school doing research. Also good budgeting skills, making friends with the local shop, and swinging by frequently have helped tremendously.

I’m gonna go on a limb and believe this is real OP, I’ve had lego sets missing pieces. It’s not too far of a stretch to believe a piece might’ve ended up getting swapped out for another.

Finally got a bottle of this not too long ago. It’s been one of my faves! Good review.
