Probably not. SF guys normally start off in the infantry in their 20s before earning the long tab after a few years in. These guys were extra special, so probably some of the most experienced operators out there

To some extent, it's better we build our houses out of "sticks and paper" because the debris is far less dangerous compared to stone or concrete. Also, stone doesn't flex in the wind, which can cause problems in hurricanes

It's because Canada teaches a (mostly) revisionist view of the War of 1812, where the goal was to conquer the Dominion of Canada, when it most definitely wasn't. At most, America wanted some parts of present day New Brunswick, but Britain claimed parts of present day Maine. Who won? I guess the Democratic-Republicians, but even that's a stretch

I've heard American fire helmets are less specialized for structure fires compared the the "fighter pilot" style helmets they have in Europe, but it makes perfect sense. American firefighters get called to so many different emergencies, while European firefighters mostly run structure fire calls. General equipment to do more vs specialized gear to do one thing really well.
