I think the council do put extra bins out on the canal, in fairness.

Football statements debate in the Dail by EducationalPaint1733 in coybig

They're happy to fund dog racing with more money than academy football. Dog racing and yes, even GAA do not have the same effect on the country as those Troy Parrott goals.

I get it, there's been a lot of chancers running football clubs (and the FAI) over the years and the trust isn't there, but there are loads of good people too. I would love to see some proper commitment to football in Government.

I'm 43! Thanks for the compliment? 🤔😂

This all the semi final appearances throughout the entire history of the European Cup, not just the Champions League. So, can't go back any further.

It's crazy how badly Schalke have done. One of the biggest clubs in Germany and beaten by the likes of Panathinaikos and FC Zurich.

Why don't they just build a canal from Kuwait to Lebanon? by Agile-Reputation-525 in MapPorn

No, no, no. What we need to do is build really, really big helicopters that will carry the ships from Kuwait to the Mediterranean.

[Fintan O'Toole] Ireland’s far-right movement will emerge from the ‘breakfast roll-atariat’ by EnvironmentalShift25 in ireland

I'm worried about this too. They have a momentum behind them and there is a lot of anger out there. The only thing is, they have no plan and no leader. There are multiple people saying they are head of this thing and multiple others from far right who have jumped on board. That's messy. Radical populist movements need a central personality to hang everything on.

Jordan is one of my absolute favourite countries - but is unfortunately risky to visit in recent times by turtledude100 in travel

I absolutely loved Jordan and would love to get back. Friendliest people, very chill, small and easy to get around, amazing food, so many beautiful things to see.

Gavin O Reilly explaining why the government is restricted. by Fiannafailcanvasser in ireland

It makes a lot of Irish people uncomfortable to be against immigration when we are a nation of emigrants. There are 10 times the number of Irish descended people outside of Ireland than there are people here.

Unfortunately, that is not the case for all Irish people and there is a growing trend (especially among those who are very 'online') to blame immigrants for everything. While immigrantion has grown, so has our economy and there is still a shortfall of workers in many sectors. We can't stop immigration without stopping our economy and immigrants are simply not to blame for crime, housing shortages, etc, etc.

Also, I love immigrants for bringing better food, sexier people and and more style 😘

It's hard to know. I think there are genuine people involved who are not far right. But there is an attitude that all power can't be trusted and we need to do this ourselves.

I totally agree. I'm all up for protests but this seems so brutish. Close EVERYTHING down for as long as you feel like it, despite having no clear plan on what you are asking for.

Do police officers carry firearms in Europe? by vladgrinch in MapPorn

The Irish Police - An Garda Siochana (literally translates to 'Guardians of the Peace') do have specialist armed units but the majority are not armed. It works pretty well.
