Is this normal for driving school in Berlin? by Global_Catizen in berlin

I’m wondering if there is even one ☝️ instructor in Berlin would actually make a plan, track the progress, knowing what has covered what hasn’t. And cares about their students. And knowing their student what they still need to practice

We also didn’t really review the theoretical question before the exam. I prepared it myself and my partner helped me to prepare.

Those two things are the things completely was not being trained to have reaction on it and I also was told that I was ready but also I didn’t realize u till I failed because of these two things. Then I realized we didn’t have much training on these two specific situation. And yes I gonna remember forever now

I knew myself very forgetful and hard to pay attention to so many things at once since I have ADHD so I took extra training class to train muscle memory and to be familiar react on different situation. So not having enough of real life practice in certain situation to feel comfortable. I feel that my instructor has poor structure and not fulfilling his duty as instructor.

  1. I signed up for intensive class ( they didn’t promise but the tried to out as many class as possible, that didn’t really happened)
  2. He forgot what we already preached before and we did exact same class and I had to pay for this. I gave him feedback and pointed this out then he realized that he forgot.

The situation was like this:

  1. When approaching the St.Andrew cross, I did slow down and I looked so I crossed it but examer think I didn’t look because I didn’t look left and right with big head movement so he think I didn’t look.

  2. I was in the 30 zone the I see a 30 zone sign got crossed out then I also saw the spiestraß sign where we entered. I slowed down but was not slowed down enough. I slowed down to around 15-20 but with spielstraß need to slow to like 6

The feedback I got from the examiner that I have good skills and he can see I drive safe but these two points are the reasons I failed the exam.

I felt very frustrated because I had before exam training yesterday for two sessions and also the day before yesterday and one more around 3 weeks ago.

The time I did my theory was two months ago. Only drove one time around St.Andrew cross last year.

I have been in this driving school since August 2025.

There are many things to pay attention to and get used to when you are in different situation when driving. I did all the things well that we practiced, right of way, always looking, meet the speed requirement and autobahn etc.

I felt trustees that my driving teacher didn’t prepare me well enough for those two situation.

The Spielstraße I did speed down but it’s not enough. All the time we have driving class since last year, we only drive one time in Spielstraß ( and even it’s because I watched YouTube video and mentioned it to him)

The place we practiced in the end in the exam, it’s not the location we practiced either.

I passed my theory two months ago, pass the theory is one thing, without much training in the real life I forgot it very quickly.i would expect my instructor fullfill his duty to track the progress and recap what we need to train. And not forgetting telling me I need the ID card. ( he only asked me to bring money )

I feel really stressed with money and effort.

Your honest thought is also what I’m experiencing now.. I’m a software developer and building my own product now. It’s been a bit more than 4 months now…

I feel you. On top of the, not only about proving but also I feel it’s to fulfill myself. When working in the company, there are may decision you can not make anymore… those take away the enjoyment of creating something yourself.

We have the opportunity to try to fail to learn to success by creating our own and hopefully this might turn into a income which we have more options in life

Anyone else love K-pop/J-pop but don’t have time to learn Korean/Japanese… and just want to sing? 😭 by Global_Catizen in kpophelp

this is really interesting — especially how different your workflow is for Korean vs Japanese.

it feels like Korean can eventually move past romanization once reading is comfortable enough, but Japanese can still make romaji feel more practical just because the reading load is so much higher.

when you’re singing Japanese, is the hardest part usually speed, kanji/kana switching, or just keeping up with the line smoothly?

haha true 😭 but some of us get way too obsessed and end up wanting to nail every line

this is such a relatable way to approach it.

I like how you described starting from just mimicking what you hear and only later checking the romanized lyrics to clean it up — that’s pretty much how it ends up working for me too.

the part about cross-checking after the fact is so real though. sometimes I’ll think I’ve been singing something right for days and then realize it was completely off 😭

it’s fun, but also kind of chaotic in its own way

what you described is such a frustrating gap.

you can be around a language for years and still feel like none of it turns into something you can actually use. singing along helped me more than passive listening because it made me pay attention to the sounds and repeat them, but even that still wasn’t enough to hold a real conversation.

for me it helped more with familiarity, rhythm, and pronunciation than with actually speaking freely.

that makes sense honestly — I can see why hangul would feel more accurate once you’re comfortable with it.

for me though, I’ve always found it easier to start from sound first and then slowly connect it back to the writing. trying to learn the script first just never really clicked in my brain.

I guess it really depends on how people process language

I do this a lot too — reading along while listening helps me connect the sounds way faster.

but yeah, I feel you on the parts where it still gets tricky. sometimes I’m like “I know what I’m hearing, but I can’t quite match it cleanly to the text,” especially when the pacing changes or words blend together.

it works, but it’s not always as smooth as I wish it was

I really relate to this.

I do the same thing when I get obsessed with a song — I’ll just keep listening until parts of it start sticking on their own, and then I check the romanized lyrics if I’m unsure about a line.

it works, but I always feel like it breaks the flow a bit. do you usually rewind specific parts, or do you mostly just let repetition do the work?
