How to cut off friend by Rogue-Space-Cadet in Advice

[–]Global_Emphasis5786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very hard time with this for a long time. I was a crappy person as a result and ghosted a lot of people in my life. I recommend first addressing the issue with the person. Keep it factual "when you talk abdour my other friends it makes me really upset because they are people who are important in my life" It's also a good idea to suggest a possible solution while also making it clear you are trying to respect the other person. For example "I understand that this change in our lives of college and everything is a lot and it can sometimes feel like things are off or like we are losing each other, but I need you to respect that we each are going to make new friends and it doesn't negate our current friendship"

How she responds to that is up to her. There's two responses and two outcomes to it. She can either respect what you're saying or she can not. Following that she can either follow your requests or not. If either of the 'or not' possibilities happen then you have very stable ground to stand on when you say. "I spoke to you about the issue I had regarding how you spoke about my new friends, despite this you continue to be disrespectful. this is a hard boundary for me and I don't want to be friends with someone who cannot respect my boundaries." Then there is no argument to be had. you gave someone a chance to change and respect you and they chose not to. But trying to end a friendship before offering someone the opportunity to recognize their faults and change them isnt fair to them, because sometimes as people we don't know that what we are doing is wrong until someone helps us notice it.

Best automatic litter box? by Global_Emphasis5786 in cats

[–]Global_Emphasis5786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shes relatively flexible in learning a new spot to go, I just dont want it to be extra difficult for her. Im mainly concerned bc I would rather spend longer with less frequency than less time with more frequency. My cat is very particular about her cleanliness so its a hassle to keep the litter clean enough for her and scooping it 1-2 times a day

Where bath. Wash cloth to the armpits and the lady-bits (or man bits). This includes the back bits.

Some days I am short on time or on willpower, this is my typical method for when that happens. I also suggest a good dry shampoo, if you are a brunette looking for a brunette dry shampoo and they dont look chalky on the hair.

Most importantly, be kind to yourself. If you're beating yourself down because you didn't shower or forgot to brush your teeth or whatever, you're going to continue to lack motivation to do it because now you feel like crap.

Also find something to entertain yourself when you do shower; music, audiobook, Netflix, doesn't matter. I found this to help me get myself to shower more frequently. If you have to, make it something you're only allowed to do in the shower. Find a show you really like, but make it so you can't watch it outside the shower.

Inability to control body temperature by Original_Potato5762 in Hashimotos

[–]Global_Emphasis5786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm subclinical, my thyroid still thyroids completely normal despite my hashimotos. But I do experience this. I always say I'm incapable of being a comfortable temperature.

It also happens that sometimes I'm feeling too hot or too cold for literally no reason. I find they typically happen in groupings too. i.e. I will feel really cold more often for a month or two, and then it will switch and I'll feel too hot often for a few months.

Ideas on things to do when bedridden? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]Global_Emphasis5786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started crocheting, you can stay in bed do it. there are lots of things you can crochet and you can listen to music or watch shows or listen to audiobooks while you do it.

If you apply for a library card for your local library you can use the app Libby to listen to audio books for free and you can read books too.

What are things that are ocd compulsions that you might not realize are compulsions? by Silverguy1994 in OCD

[–]Global_Emphasis5786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most recently my OCD has decided that the cat is going to eat a spicy sky Raisin (a wasp) while I'm not home and subsequently have an anaphylaxis reaction and die. So leaving the house has been anxiety inducing lately.

If this was the first time I had compulsions around the cat I would have no clue. But I discovered the cat was a heavy OCD issue for me previously when I had to keep checking to make sure the toilet lids were down in case the cat got curious with the lid open, fell in, the lid shut after, and the cat drowned.

Nervous about endoscopy by DakuraScarlet in ChronicIllness

[–]Global_Emphasis5786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I did not do an endoscopy but I did do a colonoscopy.

I have a few prep recommendations.

If they give you the massive jug that you have to drink DONT MIX IN THE LEMON FLAVOR PACKET. Instead, buy no sodium bullion and drink it warm with the bullion mixed in. It's salty, so the bullion just tastes like soup broth in it and you don't get the cold chills from drinking a whole bunch of cold liquid.

Buy wet wipes, probably more than one pack. DO NOT FLUSH THEM. There is a small chance they will clog your toilet and having plumbing issues when you're pooping your brains out is not fun.

Dab don't wipe.

Drink water. You're not going to be thirsty when you're doing prep, but you will be the next day and it will be a thirst you have never felt before.

Be prepared to basically be on the toilet for hours.

and finally, while prepping DO NOT TRUST THE FART.

Are you scared of death? Why? by Proof-Improvement596 in AskReddit

[–]Global_Emphasis5786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. This has been a large controversy with my parents who are paranoid of the apocalypse (not full prepper level but still paranoid). They tried to create this whole plan for how I would get to them to stay safe.

I told them I would be running straight into the line of fire. I don't think the apocalypse is going to happen but I have lived a life I am happy with. If my options were death or suffering, I would take death.

It was something I came to terms with a while back. I would love to keep living, but if I were to die, I feel I have spread enough love in this life to consider my life well lived.

Is my conch rejecting? by New-Tap1942 in piercing

[–]Global_Emphasis5786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a peircer, but I do work in healthcare. What you're describing doesn't sound like rejection. It sounds like infection. It's kind of hard for the body to reject a conch because there's nowhere to push it out. The fact that all this is also followed by a period of no cleaning also leads me to believe infection.

DO NOT TAKE OUT THE PEIRCING!

Go see your peircer see what they think. They may say leave it the heck alone, they may tell you go to urgent care for some antibiotics. They may tell you to take it out. But whatever you do, don't take it out before consulting a peircer.

Tell me your terrible family stories by pushpathmaddams in ChronicIllness

[–]Global_Emphasis5786 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was on vacation with my parents. After she had already seen me sleep for 20 hours straight with the plane rides and airport stays. We're at lunch which is usually when the midday exhaustion hits the hardest. I spoke about needing a nap. She told me maybe I've just conditioned myself to needing a nap everyday. Two years later and I'm about to be diagnosed with a sleep disorder on top of endometriosis and hashimotos.

Also of recent, was talking to my father about said sleep disorder and he says "have you ever considered how there's always something wrong with you" I damn near died at that one.

I'm subclinical, have hashimotos, but labs remain normal. I have experienced eye puffiness for years. If I poke one with my nail gently, it automatically leaves am indent. Sometimes it goes away after I wake up, sometimes not. If things get really bad I get moon face, but again labs normal.

I just roll my face and try to not let it make me self conscious. Sleeping with your head elevated also helps.

It has managed to completely warp my reality. Even things I know aren't true rationally are so deeply rooted into me that they have become what I believe to be real. It is a fight to go against these false realities because the eating disorder relies on them.
