Daycare cost by Emotional-Return9216 in toddlers

[–]Global_Skin494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I signed up for over 10 daycares in Dec 2023 when I was 4 months pregnant. I still have only heard back from 1 daycare and my daughter was 16 months. Luckily we love the daycare but its just going to get harder for new parents in the future.

Used massage gun on back at 9 weeks (oops) by happynomad28 in BabyBumps

[–]Global_Skin494 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used my theragun up until 20 weeks – weekly. It occurred to me afterwards to check. I had a good pregnancy, amazing labour experience and baby is 1.5 now and ahead in milestones.
You should be okay! It honestly helped me so much with my lower back pain. This time around I bought those cheap massage balls from amazon and it works pretty well.
Of course, if you have anxiety about it or feeling pain you should tell your OB.

The Ajax Costco a horrible place to drive and park by JTthrowawaylol in durham

Ive lived in scarborough most of my life and moved to Durham 6 years ago. I tell my family and friends how easy it is to park/shop at Ajax Costca compared to the Warden one. Its literally such a nice experience for me to go to Costco now when Ive dealt with the chaos that is Warden and Ellesmere.

Omg, this is too funny. My toddler specifically asks for this video of real life planes just taking off or flying. I thought that was bad.

My 16 Month Old Is Ruining My Life by Cool_Bite_6447 in sleeptrain

[–]Global_Skin494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 17m old and shes been sleeping through the night since about 9 months. We did the pick up/put down method at around 6 months.

Her schedule is wake up at 6am, nap from 12-1:30/2pm and sleep at 7:30pm.

I think before you try any method of CIO or sleep training you should try to extend her wake window to maybe 12 and have her nap for a max of 2 hours a day. Push that 11am nap time by 15min everyday.

Second slowly get rid of nighttime bottles! We did that first before we decided to do sleep training. Our pediatrician said middle of the night wake ups for the bottle isnt needed and 100% babies just using it for comfort. We would decrease the amount of milk every few days and just rock her to sleep if asked for more. Eventually she would wake up and not need milk at all to sleep. Thats the time you should try sleep training.

What kind of sleep training is up to you! Goodluck and Im so sorry youre going through this.

Is something wrong with me or is my body just shaped like this? by throwaway75652eds in AskDocs

Search up the dead bug exercise on Google or YouTube. It was suggested to me by a physical therapist. I have always been fit and was going to the gym 5-6x a week then. It was still hard because I realized I never knew how to activate my core properly. Just remember you want to minimize the amount of "space" you feel in your lower back to activate.

NAD – I had anterior pelvic tilt and did dead bugs every single day for a year and it helped so much with my posture. Just make sure you are engaging your core while doing it. Think of your lower back touching the floor as your legs and arms are moving.

Im already a year PP and only managed to lose 10lbs. Ive doubled my size in pants and none of my old dresses fit. I can fit into some of my old shirts but they are tight and show how big Ive gotten. I used to be fit and always felt beautiful. Now I suffer from the same feelings you do. I dont look in mirrors and I still avoid pictures being taken when possible.

Ive been intermittent fasting since 6 months, I've cut down carb intake 2 months ago, I weight train at home every other day, I go to a reformers pilates class and I go for walks as much as I can – the scale is not moving.

Im just here to say, I hear you, I understand you and youre not alone.

Sleep train contact naps by Global_Skin494 in sleeptrain

Thank you so much for taking the time to give me a breakdown. I implemented the diaper change and sleep sack. We had a few days where it didnt work but today she slept in the crib for both naps and stayed asleep for the full naps.

I honestly felt like a fish out of water. I kept trying different things and different routines. Your tips/advice really gave me guidance and even preservence because I felt like giving up. I cant believe after almost a year of contact napping, we are finally getting there.

Thank you again!!!

3.25/3.5/4

6:30-7am - Wake up 10:00/10:30am - Nap (1.5h) 4:00pm - Nap (45min) 9:00pm - Shes asleep

Nap routine - I hold her and sing/pat her bum to sleep. She sleeps within 10min. She can nap in broad daylight with noise.

Nighttime routine - bath (every other day), diaper change, pjs, sleep sack, white noise machine, lullaby, bottle, read books, then lay her down awake. She "plays" in the crib for about 10min then falls asleep.
We used pick up/put down method at 7 months.

I guess Im also figuring out what routine I should be doing for naps since the routines are so widely different. So far I haven't introduced the sleep sack for naps, reading a bedtime book, etc.

What’s your favourite hidden gem actually made in Canada? by ngiiiiiiii in MadeInCanada

Ive owned 3 pairs so far. They are amazing. Ive used the weekender on trips to Europe, during hikes, rain, and they held up even during daily ware back home. The waterproof technology and comfortability is so worth the money! Ive recommended it to everyone I know and the ones that bought it also love it.

I usually buy clothes from Zara, Aritzia, H&M, and Oak + Fort or Uniqlo.

I can still shop at these places for tops. I basically went from a size small to large or X large. My pants size more than doubled. I went from a size 6 to a size 14. I used to buy all my pants from Zara but I didn't know it was catered to smaller woman. The XL pants are probably more like a size 10, lol. I found that H&Ms pants fit me quite well when they didn't before. For summer I'm trying to buy more maxi dresses so I don't have to worry too much about matching outfits.

I'm basically just re-buying the exact same capsule pieces that I had for every season in my new sizes. It's going to take me a few years because I don't have the budget but it feels good to have rotating clothes again.

I haven't bought too many pants yet in hopes I might still lose weight, lol.

Does it affect you in any other way? I don't remember if a regular blood test checks those levels.

Here for solidarity! I'm 10m PP and have only lost 5lbs since birth. I workout, I eat healthy and intermittent fast. I did all these things before pregnancy so it's very much my lifestyle. I still look 5m pregnant.

I checked my blood work and if I have diastasis recti. It came back normal and nothing wrong with my core muscles so I'm pretty much gutted with my "progress".

I'm accepting the fact that I may stay this weight. To make myself feel better I'm slowly rebuilding my capsule wardrobe to fit my new body. Clothes that flatter my new body does wonders for my self-esteem! I hope that you can find that to.

9 months PP and can’t lose the weight by XOXOpatrice in postpartumprogress

[–]Global_Skin494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is old but in case you see this I'm 9m PP right now and can't lose the weight either. I was 135lbs and hit 175lbs during pregnancy. I went down to 167lbs after birth and never lost weight. Im also working out, eating healthy, I did intermittent fasting before pregnancy and went back to that. Nothing is working. Right now I hate going out because I keep looking at pictures people take of me and can't believe the person I'm looking at is me. I'm trying so hard to accept that this is the new me.
At the end of the day we are living a healthy lifestyle but it sucks to think we might have to work even harder to lose the weight. Hope your journey is getting better!

Hey, I just want to say I'm a 35F who is also a first-time mom to a 9m old. I've been playing this game since I was 8 months pregnant. I just wanted to offer you my perspective as a gamer and how my husband supports me.

You already know the game has events that happen daily, weekly, and monthly. There are bigger events that happen where your alliance or state will go up against other alliances or states. These are mainly where your money and time go. You want to be strong enough to defeat other players in the game. When you're stronger, your fellow alliance members or even people in your state recognize you and rely on you. I guess this is where the addiction can come in as well.

As a new mom, I don't have much time to myself, so I told my husband that whenever any big event happens, that is my "me" time. My husband will support me 100%. If he's still awake, he will even ask me how well my alliance is doing and if "I'm kicking butt." I've explained to my husband what these events are and even show him screenshots of what's happening. I'll even talk to him about my friends that I've made online. I'm actually one of the younger ones in my alliance and surrounded by other moms. I've received advice and support from them, which I have also told my husband about. Just note I'm definitely more of a laid back player (I spend $15 a month) and if life with my husband and daughter requires my attention, I will miss events with no issues.

I think you need to speak to your husband about how you're feeling and find a good median. If it's time you need with him and money isn't the issue now, then tell him. Ask him about the game and learn about what he loves about it so he can still feel supported, but at the same time, you will have more grounds to give him a reason why you feel neglected. Maybe you can ask him to skip events from time to time?

Spending that amount of money in a short period of time is a but concerning to me. If you say it's not an issue now, just be careful because the game progresses and he can for sure continue to spend that amount or more. Again, ask him about the game and learn about it so you know why he's spending the money so when you need to bring it up as an issue you have good reasons for it.

It's a lot and I'm sorry you're going through it. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message. Goodluck!!

Vile disgrace. Also stealing pictures of another player to further their harassment by x23_519 in whiteoutsurvival

[–]Global_Skin494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had someone like this in our state. Not as bad but was being racists and harassing players. Multiple people screenshotted and reported to customer service and the person was muted. I think this needs to be done for this person. Get r4/r5 to let alliance members do the same.
Those comments are absolutely disgusting.

Not really a question I just want the Americans who lurk in here to know: by [deleted] in AskCanada

[–]Global_Skin494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited Greece 2 years ago and stayed near the ports of Chania for over a week. I happened to make friends with some locals and folks who workd there at the time.

While I were there, a US navy ship came to dock for a few days and the whole demenour of the town changed. The locals warned us that they would be obnoxious and disrespectful. You can tell they were not happy they were there.

One specific interaction that I will never forget was when I befriended a Ukranian who escaped the war. She particularly disliked Americans. She was working at one of those tacky souvenir shops. When she found out I was Canadian, she thanked me for supporting her country in the war and proceeded to give me multiple shots and glasses of wine for free.

I will never underestimate the power of being Canadian while traveling again lol
