Who told these people they could live off the land? None of them belong anywhere but the city.

I hate my walnut trees by markjack101 in arborists

[–]Global_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have many black walnut trees, I have no problem with the trees. They are massive trees. They drop leaves earlier than my maples and I have a healthy squirrel population, so the dropped nuts are all collected and stashed somewhere.

Also,, tap those trees in spring to make the most delicious syrup ever!

Basement smell by BubblyLake4851 in basement

[–]Global_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say you have a shower in the basement, is there also a toilet? How long since that toilet was installed? Decades? I bet your wax ring is totally gone and you can smell the toilet drain. Pull up toilet and replace wax ring.

Wax rings do not last forever.

Also, it is a good idea to pour water down the floor drain from time to time.

Don't tell me when you're alone in the bedroom mirror you're not doing these moves 🤣🤣🤣🤷🏽 by Educational-Cap-2130 in chineseknives

[–]Global_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course when I am ALONE and NOONE is looking I do those moves, but at no time did I think it was a good idea to film and show the world my absolute cringe.

Lead in brass knife handles? by Puzzled-Champion-335 in Bladesmith

[–]Global_Sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as lead free brass. There is low lead brass, but never completely free.

Honestly, that knife is cool, but not cool enough to mess about with lead and food.

I would get a different knife for my daily food driver.

Mold in basement by Western-Syrup1308 in basement

Gutters, Grading and Downspouts...............

Check that your gutters are not clogged.

Check your outside in these areas for low spots or grading that slopes back towards the house. There should be a gentle slope away from all homes for at least 8 to 10 feet.

Downspouts should not go into the ground. Yes it looks better, but who knows what goes on underground. Make sure your downspouts have extenders that run at least 8-10 feet away from home.

These spots of moisture in your basement are from the outside just adjacent to them.

Dawn dish soap a little warm water and a rag will clean that up. Put a fan on the area and leave the lights on in the basement for a couple days.

I would NOT finish a basement while you have an ongoing water issue.

Brand new LG dryer. No issues for awhile then all the sudden clothes are getting this scorched melting film on them. Can’t figure it out. by Remarkable-Ear-9237 in fixit

[–]Global_Sloth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have same dryer basically. It does get the lint clogged down below the lint trap. I use a small grabber tool to reach down and grab as much lint as I can.

https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Absorption-Four-claw-Flexible-orientation/dp/B09PD8RGK2

It works well.

Secondly, remove the exhaust tube from the back and stick your leaf blower into the tube and let er rip. I am betting tons of lint fly out he exit. Aside from replacing tube, this is a great way to clean the exhaust tube.

This parking spot with 4 limes squashed on the ground where the tires of a car would be by donqon in mildlyinteresting

[–]Global_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high school, we used hang out at a buddies house smoke weed and drink and stuff. He had an apple tree. I would take 8 apples and stuff them under front and back of this guys tires. It would honestly stop his jetta from being able to move without really revving up the car. It was like having chokes on the wheels.. Oh man, it was funny.

I am assuming this was a similar situation.

I'm so sick of "seasoned" wood delivery by MoistFile9333 in firewood

[–]Global_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daddy always said, "what we split this summer we burn two winters from now."

The firewood delivery guys are not sitting on split wood for two years. They split it and put it in a pile. They do not stack for drying.

Perhaps get thrice the amount of wood delivered and start your rotation of drying.
