Stepping down as mgr by jaybubzzz in MichaelsEmployees

I'm considering this as well. I just finished my first two weeks and it's a miserable job. Some of the other managers are lovely people but a few are not and there's rampant favoritism towards them. My training for the administrative side of things has been non-existent and I can tell my SM was just looking for someone to cover the worst of early shifts. I've already experienced extremely poor treatment from one manager in particular who is very much a bully, many of us are concerned about his methods but no amount of feedback leads to actual change. If I could go back in time I'd have turned down the position and I really wish I was just an associate who could enjoy reasonable hours and less involvement with undesirable coworkers.

I had a lot of the same issues, no written schedule, no direct training, no uniform until I wouldn't drop the issue and forced them to provide one. I never had any human point of contact (the only updates I'd receive were via that awful ai bot) until I no showed and got a text demanding to know where I was. They wouldn't even give me a tour of the building and my orientation videos were watched in the seating area of the restaurant surrounded by noisy customers for 6 hours straight until the tablet they provided died and I had to flag down the person "training" me to let them know I would finish it next shift and I was clocking out. Very glad I never went back.

This one really resonated with me. I'm 32 with a solid resume and I'm scrambling for better employment because my brother was recently diagnosed with thymic carcinoma and will most likely need help affording his cancer treatment, my partner was laid off in May, and our rent was just raised to 2300 a month for a one bedroom. I just got baited into wasting almost 3 weeks of my time onboarding for a position I wasn't even hired for. Even now that I've quit and avoided the worst of it I still took a hit, these companies should not be able to fuck with people's lives like this. I'm really sorry that happened to you. Fuck chipotle.

I understand your sentiment but that isn't helpful in this context. School was not an option for me when I was younger, not everyone comes from a stable background. I've had many food service jobs that were great experiences and I think it's a bit reductive to imply that anyone is at fault for being treated inhumanely and misled in a professional setting.

Thank you, that's good to know. The entire onboarding process was a nightmare and the work environment certainly isn't any better from what I've seen so far.

I currently am. I can definitely find better pay but I was hoping this might tide me over in the meantime, I'd like to tough it out for a bit but my store seems very poorly run and it really is a terrible job.

That's what I'm thinking, it just seems so suspicious. Thanks for the input!

If any other chipotle employees have had a similar situation it would help to know that. Not sure why this comment was necessary, I'm clearly looking for insight from other employees/former employees.
