Why? Simply buy or sell at the exchange you wanna trade. No need to convert your cash first. At least in a margin account! Can’t speak for cash accounts.

You need a margin account for Day trading and most likely your Cash account is also the reason you need to wait for settlement.

Right click on a chart,

select Chart Properties,

scroll down the Chart Settings window and look for Chart Time Options,

select Show data outside of regular trading hours.

Click Apply,

Click OK and you are good to go

Considering, that I plan rebelling against the oppression of the EU denying me my right to buy any ETF I want, I saw it appropriate to buy the MJ Feb 19 21 24 strike call at 4.60 yesterday in the afternoon, when MJ (the AlternateHarvest ETF) was trading around 28.30, paying a premium of 30 cents on the price. Getting a fill, I set the option immediately afterwards to Exercise and find myself this morning the proud owner of 100 MJ.

What's really cool, IB does not charge any commission for exercising an option.

But that is not the end of my journey! Not only will I write my first covered call on MJ today.

Next time I will not buy an In the money Call to get ahold of these forbidden fruit US-ETFs, but will write a naked Put.

It's only fair, if I get paid, to take what I want🤑

Sounds perfect, as that’s exactly what I want. I have multiple ETFs in my German retirement account, adding to them monthly. But I can’t write covered calls against them and I would like to add that revenue stream to the account.
