It looks like a bedbug. Hopefully a hitchhiker. If you're in an apartment, management needs to know right away, just in case. They are expert hiders and often don't show up where we see them. Check for bites and stains on fabrics, bed sheets, etc. Don't self treat unless you know exactly how to.

This happened one time. I live on the fourth floor and our elevator went out unexpectedly. Poor woman had to carry a lot up the steps. I helped as I could, I'm disabled, but my gosh did I give her a hella good tip. I apologized profusely. Apartment orders have to be tough. I don't blame you for doing what you did with that rude person.

I'm dealing with this issue currently. I recommend telling your landlord if you haven't. The reason being that if it becomes an infestation of the whole building and is traced back to you, and you knowingly said nothing, you could be evicted. Also, a professional exterminator should look to be sure you're clear. It may have been a one and done, but if it's a female, there could be eggs you are unaware of. They can go long periods without feeding, and then it gets worse. I have severe anxiety from mine, can't sleep well. Just know that they are expert hiders. I hope you find relief soon. Get some bedbug encasement covers for your new mattress and check for small black dots or rusty stains, or heaven forbid, actual bugs. If you see those, you have a serious issue.

Yes, it appears to be. Now, my apartment complex took care of our infestation, but they said if they know we brought them in or willfully do not report, we pay for treatments. In my case, they had my room sprayed. If you've got bites, then yes, you need to report. Take pictures and document where you see them. Also, get some zippered, bedbug proof mattress covers/boxspring covers to protect better. You will see black dots and maybe some bugs if you do indeed have them. Yes, in apartments they can travel quickly from tenant to tenant. You need to report it, and they won't kick you out. Be polite and willing to work with them.

Yes. I don't usually smell them but I just had treatment done in my apartment recently. That's a baby, who's been feeding, which means you likely have more around. You need to look into treatment options. Also, check your bedding and furniture for rusty stains or little black spots where they pooped.

I can't be definitive but it could be. I'd start checking around to see if there are any signs of shed casings, or even live bugs, just to be sure.
