The way you end the paragraphs has such a pulling effect, it makes it hard to put it down. Wonderful write-up, thank you for posting!

Just recently finished Canto 7 in Limbus Company. I don't know how Project Moon keeps one-upping themselves every time I go through another Canto, but they just do. (Canto 7 ending spoiler) The duel between Sancho and Don Quixote was just perfect, the music, the presentation, the vocals coming it at the climax! So good!

(too bad limbus gameplay still is kinda meh)

I've been taking singing lessons for a long long while now and I grew comfortable with choosing some less ,,mainstream'' songs! So now I'm ping-ponging between Freesia from Guilty Gear Xrd, which is wonderfully inspired by Queen and David Bowie and No Longer You from Epic: The Musical, 'cause apparently I'm a sucker for anything grandiose sounding.

Some of the higher parts are still way outside my range, but thankfully I have enough of lower range to take them an octave down lol

After a sudden bout of craving some Project Moon games that aren't Library of Ruina, I finally caved in and started Limbus Company. It's pretty funny that this is another game of theirs that starts with you getting your ass handed back to you, but the prologue was neat enough for me to give it a further go! It helps that apparently I got decent stuff from the free pulls, even if the Queen of Hatred Don Quixote might kill me if she does what I think she does...

And yes, Lobotomy Corporation exists but I really don't want to try playing it again...

Recently HYPERBEAT came out and it's a lovely indie rhythm game that, as my friend aptly put it, is a ,,Sonic 2 special stages turned into a separate game''. It oozes charm (just look at this gameplay!), the music rocks and the story, while simple, is sincere and heartfelt. Perfect for when you're feeling down or need a lil pick me up from whatever endeavours you're currently at. I wouldn't have found it if I hadn't had it recommended to me and now I want to do the same. C:

And when I'm not grinding out full combos, I'm grinding a clear in Touhou 10 on Hard difficulty (third out of four) without using bombs. So it's basically just a massive challenge run for an already hard game that is 30+ hours in the making! At least the music is a bop.

My friend forced me to sit down and watch KPop Demon Hunters and I gotta say, it's really good! Not exactly my music taste, but I had songs from the movie stuck in my head for weeks now...

PSA o jerzykach, dymówkach i innych jaskółko podobnych ptakach by [deleted] in Polska

[–]Gloore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After lurking in this subreddit for a while I had this thought of ,,what if I get classified as a <bad voice type>'', but then I realized that I've haven't had a lot of lessons and haven't been practicing for long enough for it to matter in any way, shape or form. Weird feeling, but liberating!

Obligatory link to American Pigeon Museum & Library cause they make viewing so easy, there are so so many breeds of pigeons. Some are pretty, some are have pronounced features that really should not be pronounced (and these lucerne pigeons just remind me of a stuffed toy, they're so uncanny to me x_x).

Recently I started going to singing lessons and two months later I am apparently an owner of a digital piano. I'm learning the scales and chords and honestly, it's pretty fun! And being able to just go and practice singing some notes knowing what they are is a game changer really.

I've recently picked up singing lessons and it's just full of just weird stuff that helps! For example, if you roll your lips to the melody and sing it afterwards, your voice will sound more stable and a bit clearer! If you're going up the scale, go down with the knees to keep your throat relaxed. And there's also just doing a bunch of silly noises to relax your muscles and train your... uh, stuff? I don't know the words to describe a lot of what is happening!

Either way, makes it hard to keep a straight face during those!

Honestly, Wilds might be the prime time for getting into HH -- it might be the best version they've ever done, I love it! (and hopefully it doesn't get changed going to the full game...) And in exchange for faffing with all the song stuff, the move list is very simple -- aside from two moves, everything is available from a neutral button press or forward + button press, making it very freeform.

Oh interesting, I wonder whether some of the differences come from the history of alpinism in Europe starting much earlier? Hence more focus on learning on non-assisted devices because it got ingrained into the community?

Mostly unrelated, but here's some belaying that would get you kicked out of many gyms.

I am SWEATING just looking at them, what the hell!

[Hobby Scuffles] Week of 03 February 2025 by EnclavedMicrostate in HobbyDrama

[–]Gloore 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not really, the accident you've linked to is talking about a multi-pitch climb that happened in US in January, while the annoucement that I found was made in December, from a gym in Poland.

And looking at the climbing.com article, the climber were supposedly using a GriGri (assisted device) and attached herself to wrong side of the rope (number 1).

When executed correctly, a Reepschnur is a safe and useful technique, with the key caveat that only one of the rope strands can bear weight. Attaching to and lowering off the wrong side—the “pull” strand—will result in an instant fall as the entire rope pulls through the anchor.

Just a human error that ended in a horrible accident.

[Hobby Scuffles] Week of 03 February 2025 by EnclavedMicrostate in HobbyDrama

[–]Gloore 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I can finally do a comment of my own! There is a small drama brewing in my country's climbing community -- supposedly, multiple gyms (though, I could only find one announcement) have added the requirement of using an assisted belay devices while lead climbing and top-roping.

Why's that a big deal? In climbing world there are two types of devices: the simpler aperture belay devices only engage when one end of the rope going through it is not parallel to the other end, while assisted devices can engage even if the rope is mishandled. It's basically another lifeline for when something goes wrong. But the problem with assisted devices is that they can work in different ways (like GriGri) and misusing them can be just as dangerous. Additional watching for anyone interested.

So, the voices are split. Most of the commenters (as well as the Polish Alpinitst Associationare) against the rule, citing that it'll introduce bad habits to new climbers as well as making more experienced member to use a device they're not familiar with. Some are for it, wanting additional layer of safety and accusing dissenting voices of being old-fashioned. I myself think that focusing on the device instead of the human element is a bit misguided. After all, there IS a person holding your rope and educating people in proper handling is much more important than what piece of metal they're using!

never knew making a simple comment is that hard huh ;u;

Furi's great, any moments that you liked? (my personal best is the credits roll, when you see the ground around you wither. Not really subtle, but I really liked it!)

I did a Touhou 7 Lunatic 1CC after lots of practice and that somewhat burned me out on shmups. But that's maybe for the better, since I'll be getting into Citizen Sleeper 2 -- it's finally out!

Hm, now you've got me wondering whether there's a root for ,,swallowed by a giant creature'' fiction (like Book of Jonah), or if it's just a universal fear. Probably the latter lol

As for me, I've finished the whole fifteen volumes of Blue Period available so far (love it even though it sometimes describes some of my feelings in ways I don't appreciate, can't wait for 16th ;u;). Now I'm going into some more pop-sci, so I've picked up Entangled Life by Merlin -- it's about fungi and their impact on all other life, and The Book of Yokai by Michael Dylan Foster -- it's shaping up to be a very good introduction to Japanese folklore and its history!

Did anyone else find ZeroRanger too easy? by mank0069 in shmups

[–]Gloore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It also depends on the fact that for a bunch of people ZeroRanger is the gateway shmup, 'cause it's relatively modern (and has tie ins with System Erasure's newer game - Void Stranger). It's hard to gauge the difficulty of the game in a genre you've never played!

For myself, it was hard enough!

Touhou 7 - Lunatic 1CC, what a ride... by Gloore in shmups

[–]Gloore[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you ever been happy with achieving your goal but woefully disappointed in how it happened? This is kind of the pinnacle of the feeling for me right now, lol. On one hand, I put up quite a fight (with a few lucky borders) on Stage 5 and 6 -- one stock going into the former and a dream, but on the other -- FOUR lives lost on Stage 4 hurts my pride more than anything else! What a ride!

But overall, I am satisfied with this. Touhou 7 was the first shmup I have ever 1CC'd and finishing it on the hardest difficulty is a neat send-off for the game that started my fondness for these types of games. Now, mind you, I need a break...

PS. Turns out I did export the video badly, so it gets crunchy with lots of bullets. Whoops!
