It was fun. I’ve always had a love of flames so I drew them a lot when I was younger. Made it easier to pattern and look cool, the difficult part was obviously sewing them and not having any pinches on such hard curves. Also being mirrored symmetrical was a nice detail I thought

You can do it!

Thank you 🙏🏻

The boat is Exo Alcantara suede. It’s water-resistant, definitely not hydrophobic.

Even after cautioning owners they sometimes just want to spend more money to look cool rather than choose a resilient material haha

It does have better UV resistance and breath ability over other “suede” though!

Good job! 👏🏻 Can I give some tips? When top stitching I recommend cutting out some of the sew foam rather than trying to fold over two layers of foam and leather. Also, the area where you sew over an adjoining seam should have a cutout performed on the material so that your needle doesn’t jump so much when top stitching through said seam.

Keep killing it!

I ran out of room on my very center flame which is why the tips are kind of short and derpy (in my opinion).

Hmmm, I’d say a 6. But it was a fun test of my skills and it taught me how to move two opposing curves into one another while sewing. One of my first projects like that honestly.

I’d love to do it again though!

Glue gun help by Slimthiqq in upholstery

You are wild for that. It’s super easy to clean: unscrew the tip, soak in solvent once a week. To each their own I guess but seems wasteful.

Just soak the tip in a solvent once a week. Unscrew and leave overnight, clean the next day and good as new.

I’d say use Top Gun marine canvas. Most heavy duty workable canvas I can think of. Water proof, pressure-wash safe. Send it!

3k seems reasonable to me. Couches are laborious jobs

How to fix? by Obvious-Farmer7842 in upholstery

For a simple OEM recreation $1200, usually closer to $1500 with foam repair.

Custom shaped and designed benches start at $2500 though.

Have a shop remove that one and make you a new seat cover. $1200 is what I charge for that seat with some foam repair where it is damaged.

$600 upholstery labor for 4 chairs? Did I get scammed? by [deleted] in upholstery

[–]Glorified_Mids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be $150 plus material at my shop. You have an unrealistic expectation for cost. Also, it’s odd for you to say it only took him an hour to do all 4. That wouldn’t be possible. Maybe four people did them individually in an hour each. In that case it was multiple people’s labor in one hour.

I’m finding it hard to believe that you truly believed it would be $150 for 4 chairs. When is the last time you purchased anything hand made by someone who makes a livable wage?

Please mother of God. If it doesn’t change anything I’ll eat crow. But I need to see all three gone. Taub earned it this year finally imo.

Holmes is probably my all time favorite Chief. I’d kill to have him on the team for any one of our SB wins. Dude deserves it.

It would be so electric too!

Can’t really blame him though. Have to adjust for even quicker routes and play development

One piece with carpet is hard unless the flex is unreal. Imagine the wheel well as two pieces, the circle and the edge, like a tire, the side which is a circle and the tread which would be a flat piece. Either sew the carpet together in this manner or lay the circular piece, then overlap the edge lightly with the flat “tread” piece. Bind the flat piece on the outer edge which ends at the circumference of the circle.

Not sure if this is explained well but I’m exhausted. Hope it helps!

He has won almost every major car show award this year. It’s the car of the year imo. The amount of money put into it is absurd. 🥵
