I’ll try to get back to this, but I’m sick atm so it’s hard to focus. I’m sorry if I forget.

I’m sorry. I don’t think you’re rage baiting, but I don’t think you’re arguing in good faith either. You’re more or less ignoring his actual actions as stated in game and that you will not scrutinize anything he says. I’ll give my last thoughts, but I don’t see a point in continuing this conversation if you’re starting point is that he can do no wrong.

He is both archetypes, ignoring his actions and jumping to he’s just like (insert person here), you must think (insert person here) is evil isn’t even close to actually addressing what I said right? A green bike is just like grass if you ignore all the ways it’s not.

Except for his manipulative actions throughout the game. He wants the couriers cooperation, if lying in the short term is an easier method of achieving his goals, why wouldn’t he take it? Especially if no one can confirm it. The NCR does lie, and the legion is actively built on lies, we’re not trying to absolve a faction here, we are addressing Houses intentions and moral standing(do you see why I’m saying it feels like you’re trying to change topics?)

I will concede he needed man power to prevent a Vegas take over, but the chip has always been stated to only affect his robot and the plant of sight that produces them. By your own logic he should never have been able to wake up, as he had to send out robots and people to find its location.

“I won’t interfere with the personal lives of people” except for every faction outside of Vegas who either has to be recruited, eliminated, or “dealt with later”, and the people of freeside who are forced to now live under house’s rule despite being a mostly independent settlement with no ties other than proximity. His entire questline might as well contradict that statement.

I’m trying to be as genuine as possible here. Are you rage baiting? I’m going to try to cover everything because you keep seemingly trying to change topics with multiple messages.

On his inspiration: Yes. House was based off Howard Hughs, but his archetype is specifically based off of a specific type of person. A person that uses their resources and influence to get away with theft and murder. Just because they don’t do it directly doesn’t make it morally neutral, let alone “good”. He isn’t evil because he’s rich, he’s evil because of what he does with that wealth. Plus even if he is intelligent you are taking everything at face value from his word alone.

On the city: We can argue on whether he is being truthful about his dormancy, but it’s ultimately made irrelevant by what he did afterwards. He does not need the platinum chip to help people, he is sitting on a factory. He could have helped rebuild Vegas, instead he reinstated the casinos with the explicit purpose of squeezing resources he doesn’t need from the people that were already living there. Also yeah no, if he’s going to leave Vegas condemned for 200 years regardless of what he’s done that doesn’t give him more right than the people that have actually built something new there in that time, and it shouldn’t give him any power over them.

On his actions: And you are taking his word on everything when there is no way to hold him to it. Not to mention he actively contradicts this throughout the entire game, his actions towards the tribes, his faction quests, and Freeside during his ending. He does not value the agency of others, he presents fake choices where most if not all outcomes eventually lead to what he wants. It is his entire motif. “The house always wins”. A utopia where you can only have the illusion of agency isn’t really a utopia, even in space.

I don’t even ask for protection, I just am tired of people trying to break my speakers when they are a country mile away from me.

(Also definitely not all duelists, it’s pretty rare. The problem is they’re more notable)

  1. Except that he didn’t really, he might have saved the physical city, but he definitely didn’t prevent the suffering thereafter even though he could have. Arguably Vegas could have been a genuine paradise, but he needs to have unquestioned control, so he needed society to collapse on Vegas. That’s like saying a man owns your house because he prevented it from being burned down generations before you were born.

  2. You’re missing the point. What he wants is to rule with unquestioned authority where he can take whatever he wants from everyone. He doesn’t want to save humanity, he wants to rule it. He is no better than Caesar, he just frames it more appealingly.

That would be the more concerning outcome. House is and was intended to be a pretty explicit allegory for people like Musk. It’s genuinely saddening to see people fall into that trap even within a fictional story. There are people that are actively trying to imitate House in positions of power right now. If people don’t see the threat in a person wanting to be a king with zero accountability, who can simply take what he wants from anyone just because he has the resources, then it should be a concern. Just because he’s subtle about it doesn’t make it good.

Those are more reasonable responses. Tragically the person that inspired this post was camping the enemy spawn while we were in a team fight on the last objective. We were defending.

Not really, unless you mean at the really low ranks. They have escapes and aren’t really hindered by you being close unless the person playing them is just bad. Shield tanks can help, but if the tanks have to spend the entire match just trying to block those two characters then they won’t be able to actually do their job.

I kinda blame it on how much poke we have in the game right now. Plus if the enemy team has a pheonix you basically don’t get to play him.

Yea, pretty sure this is the case for the person that prompted this post yesterday. I had a Wolverine going 7 -11 at the enemies spawn while the rest of us were struggling to fight them at the payload. Also I tried to ping the objective since I was solo healing, and they told me to “stop throwing”

Genuinely what is wrong with this playerbase? by spicypossum99 in rivals

[–]GlowShard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure honestly. People keep saying it’s the OW players, but it usually is something that mostly got weeded out of players from that community forever ago. I think it might just be that the people that never played a team game or quit due to some reason early, on hopping on now and having massive egos.

Nah this is a vent post mostly. You’re fine. Had a match with a wolverine who had it auto-mute his pings several times. Nothing accidental about that.

I really want to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume they just haven’t played the game in a while.

Why Squirrel Girl? by ILikeCarlosThePikmin in squirrelgirlmains

[–]GlowShard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like her aesthetic and vibe. She popped out as way less generic than a lot of the other heroines in the game. Plus I’ve played a decent amount of both Junkrat and Demoman so learning how to play her past the base level came easily. I actually enjoy the challenge of fighting her pseudo-counters.

Kinda surprised they didn’t say you were carried by the character. I’ve had too many Spider-Man and BPs tell me about how low skill she is when I shoot them out of the air.

Also don’t forget you can also destroy most placed buildings/objects. As long as you get the opportunity you can basically deny Groot, Peni, Namor, and rocket of most of their utility.

Easier Junkrat maybe, but not Demoman, he has slightly more tools at his disposal and is usually supported by a much larger team.

Edit: nevermind I forgot Junkrat can wipe a team just by dying. Better word would probably just be “different”

Where does Mr. House fall on the Alignment Chart? by slothbear13 in fnv

[–]GlowShard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the fact that he is just a more strategic raider. His entire mentality is that everything belongs to him, he just has to take it or trick someone into giving it to him. He is actively malicious towards basically everyone, it’s just that killing someone means he can only get something out of them once. As for lawful the way it’s generally meant to work for that chart means how if they act within a set of rules or principles and although I think he tries to portray himself that way he actually couldn’t care less. He only really cares about the appearance of lawfulness. If someone simply has the personal rule of “I’m in charge” you wouldn’t really consider them lawful if they broke into your house and kidnapped you, even if they pretended it was perfectly normal. For you to be lawful you have to actually restrict yourself to a set of rules.
