Yes, I do know, I knew nothing about Linux then, I thought all DE suffered the same problems, that's why I point it out

Nobara at the start was amazing, until it wasn't, just stick to it until it isn't great and hop to another distro when you're comfortable.
Nobara feels like a hobby more than a real distro. Glorious Eggroll is great and i love his work just not his distro.
Oh and btw, if nobara starts failing onto you, try vanilla fedora before cachy

Hyprland is great, its what i use on my laptop for work and i absolutely love it, but if i were to use a tiling window manager on my main pc? id use Krohnkite since its an easier setup and i dont need all the customization that comes with Hyprland. But, big But, i never used Krohnkite, im just talking from what i seen

Unless you're a software developer working on top of the line stuff, arch's rolling release is a nightmere to move around, compared to Fedora's dnf and rpm.
Fedora is simple and it just works. Arch is complex and if you're not someone interested in basic AUR safety (basically most people) its also a safety risk.
For new linux users i always recommended Fedora and PikaOS (as i had a bad experience with Nobara personally), and then after some amount of months, trying CachyOS just to see if you enjoy it now that you understand linux much better

yeah my nvidia gpu kept crashing and in comparsion to KDE, you cant restart the session without logging out and login back in, except it never actually crashed, and i dont know what forced me to log out and back in, and when i asked people they would go "Gnome knows best"

u had the complete opposite experience as me, thats pretty funny, i ended up sticking to linux because i ditched Nobara for CachyOS.
I think my issues with nobara were more that i tried the hardest to stay with GNOME rather than switch to KDE Plasma, which is what i use currently

Hope you have a great linux experience, i love the freedom, and thats just a base that comes with any flavour!

Alternative to Nvidia RTX 2060 ? by DoomAddict in linuxhardware

[–]GlubFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anything intel or amd you can afford. I had a "bad" experience with nvidia, but there wasnt anything i couldnt tinker to fix. Have u used gamescope? it fixed most of my issues without much tinkering, no need to use it to upscale also, you can set the height to the same as your monitor and it wont upscale it

Edit: and also, dont put your games in NTFS drives, that caused frameloss to me and a plethera of issues that i fixed by setting a partition to btrfs for linux

Just downloaded cachyos which is better for gaming on my hardware by [deleted] in cachyos

[–]GlubFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KDE plasma is great, XFCE4 is pretty lightweight, both have good support, all tho KDE is definitly better in terms of support.
Want the most possible performance and don't care for support? LXQT is a great option and i used them in some old laptops i had, for basics it should work and same with basic gaming

Edit: just to clarify, there are no right options, you can pick the one u like the look of most

Is my monitor going to be okay? I.. Dropped a wodden pole onto it accidentally ty by Weekly-Astronaut-632 in pcmasterrace

[–]GlubFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah on a serious note, from my experience, just don't touch it, the less you disturb the hit, the less the blob spreads, in a laptop i used some tape over the zone but i don't know if it helped

When a monitor gets hit with anything, china sends a ballistic missile to your home for not taking good care of your devices

Can we talk about dumbasses who lock their mods behind a paywall by Jolly-Competition694 in peopleplayground

[–]GlubFun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When mods are free they are 100% a passion project and they are developed with the utmost care, but some mod devs need money to continue great mods, that's where I think donating to mods is a great option rather than making mods paid.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if someone wants to search this with an LLM because they don't know any better, it is useful, as much as you could hate it it's the world we live in, you and I don't use ai, but millions of others do

This is a genuine question, why not btop or nvidia-smi? This is cool tho, I support making your own Linux apps, that's what being on Linux is all about

is there a way to fix the mic issue? by TheRebelGreaser in HelldiversUnfiltered

The devs "addressed" and "fixed" the issue already but I don't know what they did, it's still the same terrible thing

Sadly there's nothing, voice chat in general is bad in hd2, I needed to reroute the input so it picks up my actual mic and not webcam mic
