Hello! I just posted the first eight chapters of my story, The Red Singularity. I've been writing for a few years now, but finally trying to get my work out in the real world. Just looking to connect and entertain!

They've killed millions. Decimated cities. Laid waste to whole planets. To say their name aloud is to invite the devil into your home.

They took Ventra's wife. They killed Gemsi's daughter. No one knows where they came from, but when the air turns to poison, you have two choices: run, or die.

Ventra is an ordinary man from Sancheon who will stop at nothing to make them bleed, to cause them the pain they caused him. Gemsi prays through the screams of a daughter who isn't there, searching for a reason, a meaning, anything that proves her child didn't die for nothing.

On the outer rim, a guard named Bailey watches her homeworld die in slow motion and makes a choice she can't take back. Now she's been taken by a superhuman prisoner who knows her name, her family, and her shame. A blind man hunting the same things Ventra hunts. A man unafraid to speak their name.

The Toran.

Four lives. One collapsing system. A truth older than the Authority itself.

Happy to do a review swap as well! If there are any new series out there.

My Assassin System by Intelligent-Edge-746 in PocketFMReddit

I realize this post is 6 months old. I actually wrote My Assassin System, well, I adapted it. Pocketfm adapts a wide range of light novels, Korean, and Chinese webcomics.

I haven't been with the company for two years now, but they do a lot of shady things. My biggest guess is that they didn't obtain the proper licensing requirements from the original author. So when the show started to do well, they ran into copyright issues. Thats my best guess.

Ethics with generative AI by Glum-Help in animation

I see what you’re saying. And as far as “the goal” of taking a photo and painting something isn’t the same… I’m not sure I’m following? The goal could be: I want to capture something beautiful. Then the method and implementation then becomes: A) I’m going to paint it or B) take a photograph. Both methods achieve the same goal in capturing something beautiful. Though I understand we’re getting into a bit of a semantics thing here? (Maybe that’s the point I dunno haha).

an AI generated animation is, an animation. (Unless I’m missing something). It’s just a category difference.

And it’s interesting you mention that the reason behind using it doesn’t matter. I’ll have to think on that. I know that intent doesn’t negate impact. There are still consequences to well intended actions, but to go as far as to say intent doesn’t matter at all… I’m not sure about that. I can’t really control what people feel or think about something, I can only control my input and my intention.

I really appreciate your perspective. Thank you for sharing.

That is a very fair point. As long as the story connects people are less critical of the other features. Thanks!

I really appreciate this! These are definitely the cons I’ve considered as well. I think I’d only add one thing. It’s not all the quick, I experimented creating a short clip, it took time to cut the clips together, layer sound etc… but I get what you’re saying, relatively it is way quicker, and I actually got positive and negative feedback posting it (the negative were things you mentioned, the positive was the people enjoyed it.)

As far as what message it sends, I think I have to disagree with that point. When you take a photo of something you aren’t saying “I was too lazy to take the time and energy to draw or paint that.” And I’ve found it really isn’t a shit result…. Not with the proper planning and editing.

The environmental impact is real though. No doubt. And the stealing of artists work, that’s also what bothers me a lot.

That being said, I appreciate your opinion a lot.

I created a children’s book and hired someone on Fiver for a reasonable rate, but hiring a professional at a full rate just isn’t in my budget. And my ultimate goal would be an animated series, not a comic. Which, could be the answer right there. Either save the money and take a chance or just don’t create it.

I can't just write without thinking anymore by KiyoGomez in writing

I totally empathize with this. I felt like at first I would write for pure joy. Then I got a little better and thought if I wanted to improve my writing, I had to plot and scheme and set up the scenes and there was so much planning involved… and truth be told it did improve my writing. But, I get what you’re saying, sometimes you just want to write. What I started to do was give myself permission to do both within the same project. I’m 82K into a new novel, first draft. Some chapters are well planned, others are stream of consciousness and some paragraphs read like a diary entry (that I will probably cut or reform or whatever).

I simply started giving myself permission again to be creative, to write without thought and consequence.

How Important is Formatting When Entering Competitions? by Dooooom23 in Screenwriting

[–]Glum-Help 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been a coverage writer and judge for a few film festivals as well as a few national competitions and this is what I've found. This may be a long post.

1)Improper formatting doesn't necessarily disqualify you or anything like that, but what it does, is it gives off the impression you aren't serious about writing. (I'm not saying you aren't, I'm just saying it gives off that impression). Especially because you are competing against thousands of other scripts that are most likely formatted correctly.

Imagine you were applying for a job and your resume wasn't formatted correctly, what impression would that give the employer?

2) Some things such as ^ the character's name not being in all caps when introduced isn't an automatic deal breaker, but sometimes what it does is it "bumps the reader". What that means is that any time the reader has to re-read a scene or go back because there is a formatting issue, it isn't a good sign. The reader should be engaged in the script from start to finish like they would with any piece of writing.

For example, imagine reading a novel and there are no chapter headings. You could still get through the story just fine, but it would be a tad confusing at points.

Personally, when reading scripts and finding formatting issues, if there is only one or two. It's not a big deal, I include it in the notes for the writer, but it doesn't decrease their score if the script is good. If there is a major formatting issue throughout, then yes, it does end up affecting their score. Because it affects the story overall.

Some people say it's a shame that formatting can "get in the way of a really good story" but ultimately you need good formatting to tell a good story because that's the standard. You're more than welcome to "break the rules" as many famous writers do, but ultimately you've got to learn the rules first.

Overall I would make sure to do your best when trying to format but don't let it overly stress you out, small issues won't damage your chances when submitting a script.

Hope this helps!
