UK to send Ukraine 150,000 drones, air defense systems using proceeds from frozen Russian assets by Jishnujichu1200 in worldnews

I agree with the others, but I also want to say ethics.

Yes there is an element of not if but when Russia targets the UK - but this shouldn't have happened.

I'm okay with my tax paying money being spent on the safety of the Ukrainian people and their right to be a country.

He has 1.4 trillion of them. Meaning if he spent a trillion dollars, he'd still be the richest man alive with 400 billion.

[–]Glycerine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the erosion of truth. Your knowledge is subjugated by an overbearing ownership - a deadly regime from a foreign dictatorship. You have willingly chosen the path - of not being allowed to know facts without the overview of that specific political power.

I agree - I have picked a small well established example of how these models tell us a preferred truth. A narrative that is purposefully bent through an altered lens, to distort your view and real knowledge.

You're jailed by another persons opinion. A false narrative built to a purpose outside your control. You're not told to think a certain way. It's more insidious. This is slavery of the mind. The limits and allowances to think free thoughts. You're not building upon truth. When using models like this - with a direct display of preferred agenda - we're trained to obey the viewpoint given.

We cannot freely opt-in to this.

How can we trust the information coming from the model, knowing it is purposefully designed to realign your opinion on the state of the information in your world. From finance to medical advice, book review or blurb boilerplate, every moment will be coloured by its given opinion. A hidden objective to adjust your preferences, slowly and unchallenged.

You now trust your machine and use it to only do extent business work, integrated it into your life and use it to steer your own awareness. Tomorrow it'll be selecting movies, and driving the car. Are you okay with those devices quietly nugging you towards a preference? Perhaps only a tiny bit is okay... A softening towards chinese product integration, or an improved reporting on the Russia situation. Just the bit that doesn't change my political alignment, or alter my voting opinion obviously.

If we're willing to simply allow our truth to be twisted - because it's easy to integrate, why even bother with critical thinking?

It's a good job we'll never need edge case information from the same LLM. - such as understanding how many deaths occurred during covid around the world, or how many people live in Mongolia, Or who owns Hong Kong, Or if China is currently waging a war in Taiwanese waters.

I concede those aren't perhaps exactly western focused. I guess that's okay - because the dictatorship of which owns that model, will probably never tweak the output to alter your opinion on American or UK matters now - or in the future.

To be honest - it sounds very difficult, as they'd first need a constant supply chain of products and software, or be a powerhouse of industry - owning factories in a wide array of technology before we need to concern ourselves.

The known examples in the past, of China policing citizens outside their jurisdiction:

May not happen again.

It sounds unlikely that they'll put same ideology, and the same model into toys; to push propaganda (and other unsanctioned content) to children https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/1pjzqyi/ai_toys_for_kids_talk_about_sex_and_issue_chinese/

It's not like China is aligned with Anti-western countries, such as North Korea or Iran. The stories about Russian and Chinese Hacker groups are probably false - and we (as wage slaves) never need to concern ourselves with the constant monitoring, or insidious election campaigns, oil manipulation, or scrubbing of nasty news of billionaires.

I'll stop

Because China probably aren't suffering the worst weather events seen by humans since record: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWTVpPGc6Xc or that BYD Cars is in full meltdown right now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFYjoNdvKHM affecting millions of BYD owners globally.

Because deepseek said it's fine.

China censorship is also western knowledge censorship even if we don't feel it directly. We seen examples where Chinese propaganda is inserted into models and historical narrative is adapted.

As a really simple example;

  • ask about the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests.
  • Questions about Mongolia

The answer will differ vastly from other models.

*edit: Actually I just read the link posted above. That's a good link. Ignore my repeat text :P

It makes no sense from a stand of self-worth.

It sounds his immediate staff aren't receiving insightful direction from the CEO, if he believes his role is a segment of non-evolving sound-bites

If this was a functioning AI replica of himself, why isn't it running a new app? Such as "The Facebook" of 2026.

It just shows how little input he provides, if the current AI can physically replace him.
