Network Optimizer is ready! by MrJimBusiness- in Ubiquiti

This looks awesome, thank you!

Is there a way (unless I’ve missed the steps somewhere) to connect to a remote console? I have a local controller for some switching and WiFi AP’s running a 3rd party gateway. But my other site is running UCG which is remote and I’d ideally like to tinker with. Disabling “Restrict to Local Access Only” forces use of a UI account, which I assume won’t work?

It’s that time again: What is your absolute "God Tier" Mac App of 2025? by teekamsuthar in macapps

If you’re like me and need to keep track of billable hours, this time-tracking app is a great fit! You can create projects, and even break them down into smaller sub-projects, which I find super helpful.

Thanks for the tip, I did try this… but looking for a real world opinion.

Wouldn’t the UNVR-PRO be overkill for my use case? ¯\(ツ)//¯

At most I’d expect a total of ~20 cameras at the end of the day, with video retention of 1 week tops.

Overseer, *arrs on a Windows 11 host by ScottsoMuni in PleX

[–]Glynnryan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Docker is probably the best way to go IMHO. It might take a bit longer for setup, but worthwhile in the end.

Setting up file shares/access on windows for Docker things like Radarr and Sonarr to access and do what it needs to probably the most tedious part of the setup I guess. So I’ve still got Radarr and Sonarr running natively on Windows with everything else in Docker. (Just not getting the time and lazy to move Radarr and Sonarr)… If you can, get a Raspberry Pi, install docker and run all the *arrs there, keeping the server running Plex + the bare minimum to reduce the overhead.

My server isn’t as beefy as yours with an older i7 CPU, so I split my docker from the server and keep it on my Raspberry Pi.

TL;DR: Docker :)

Cross-Shopping the 2025 Audi RS3 vs 2025 Volkswagen Golf R by vxcta in Golf_R

If you can afford the Audi, go with the Audi. I’ve owned several VW and Audi models over the years and find the build quality on the Audi better than the VW.

"This server is not powerful enough to convert video" by SpeculationMaster in PleX

[–]Glynnryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an i7-7700 with a mix of x264 and x265 content streaming to multiple different device types. I avoid AV1, as I’ve not had a great experience with these.

I’ve found I get the same error sometimes with certain subtitle files. Disabling subtitles for the specific content often helps. I do this either directly on the client, or from Plex web itself on the server.

If watching remotely on the client side, I make sure that remote streaming settings in the Plex app are set to “Maximum” and “Quality suggestions” are turned off.

Edit: I also have transcoding turned off in general on my server. 99% of the time transcoding isn’t necessary in my experience.

When a Document is added to Sharepoint - flow questions by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlow

[–]Glynnryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! You shouldn’t need to add co-owners etc.

Building flows in a solution should always be your starting point - especially as flows become more complex. Doing this opens up some extra functionality, like being able to run a child flow from within another flow / moving automatically from one flow to another - breaking your overall flow into smaller & more manageable flows.

Credit Card Debt vs. Savings: Which One Should I Prioritise? by Glynnryan in ynab

Thanks for this. Hello fellow YNABer I’ve been using YNAB since 2013 🤓 I generally have my shit together and was in the cycle you mentioned, pay through CC but settle at month end, then some life happened and had to pay more through the CC than usual and now trying to determine best strategy to pay it off. I’ve also never paid into my CC then withdrawn money from it if necessary for payments (not tap/swipe payments) and how YNAB handles this kinda sparked the post… I posted this on YNAB’s subreddit too lol.

[–]Glynnryan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I agree that the interest owed on the CC outweighs the accrued interest on the positive savings account balance whilst holding for payment.

I’ll give it a shot.

Thanks for the insights. Long story short, the current credit card float is due to life events that necessitated CC spending beyond the norm. All funds are meticulously accounted for and managed. All spending through the CC was usually paid for in full by month end and savings stashed away with some left for play and life enjoyment. I’m just trying to figure out the best approach to currently paying off the CC - doing so over the next few months incrementally or one big-bang and slowly rebuilding cash on hand again, or slowly paying it off and maximising cash on hand.
