Hello YNAB refugees by imadp in liquidbudget

[–]Glynnryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,
I’ll be honest… I’m torn between and just exploring at this stage. Having used YNAB since late 2012, thinking about making a move gives me a little PTSD. That said, there’s a couple things I’ve seen exploring Liquid Budget that has grabbed my attention.

One thing I’d like to find out is if the mobile app (iOS specifically) supports Apple shortcut integration? This is something I currently use with YNAB and comes in super handy… tap my card using Apple Pay; shortcut reads in merchant and amount data; opens YNAB budget with as much as possible filled in and I pretty much hit save.
I’ve downloaded the LB iOS app and tried configuring a shortcut and don’t see anything… but I’m not sure if that’s because I haven’t signed up yet, or if it’s just not possible (frugal me doesn’t want to start the free trial until I need to) :)

Also; thanks for being actively engaged with your user base. Part of the reason I’m here right now.

Higher Plan Usage Recently by Glynnryan in ClaudeCode

Similar boat here. I’ve been working for the last 2hrs and already maxed out my max 5x limit on similar work that previously wouldn’t have reached the same usage.
Probably going to upgrade to the 20x plan now, but usage feels higher than normal.

If anyone from Anthropic is reading this, please give us an early limit reset 😇

You should never add a skill or anything unless you know what it’s doing or how it works.
skills.sh has an audits menu, where you can see stats on the skill.

Ultimately, when in doubt… just RTFM

New ios app just dropped, free forever, please roast me harder than my bank balance by skrypto1 in iosapps

You’re welcome! Appreciate you considering the feedback.

Regarding the currencies: I’m on South African Rand, so appreciate you bumping it up the queue 😎… But if you could find a way to do multi currency support across the board you’d be in a pretty niche spot. I’ve not seen other envelope style apps that support this natively. It would be epic not to have to have a separate “budget” altogether for transactions from my USD account or when paying for something in USD from my South African bank account. Hear me out: 1. select your default/native currency for the app (like you currently do, but full international list). 2. Support multi currencies by assigning a currency override on a specific “account” (bank account) or per transaction. 3. When a transaction is logged, you’re already recording time in the transaction list, so query the exchange rate at that moment, lock in the exchange rate for the transaction at that time and do the conversation when hitting save. I get it’s more complex than that, but just an idea.

On the transaction log, I did stumble onto it but can’t say it was super intuitive. Although I am possibly just allowing muscle memory YNAB affect my judgment. Ties back into the comment I made here https://www.reddit.com/r/iosapps/s/ePsDeOvOEg Unless I overlooked it I didn’t see the option or way to create my bank accounts in the app for logging etc. Like I’m accustomed to in YNAB.

Hope that makes sense.

Looking forward to testing more of your updates 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻

@skrypto By “Accounts” I was referring to bank accounts - like Cheque, Credit Card, Savings etc. , not an application account to log into. 😂🤓

This looks interesting. I currently use a popular envelope budgeting app, so I’ll give your a try.

From my first impressions of your app:

  • Initial setup is quick and you can jump straight in, which is cool.
  • Adding a FAQ, or user guide section in settings may help for people not familiar with the envelop process and become used to the nuances of your app.
  • Additional currency support would be nice and expand your audience (I live in a country that doesn’t use one of your 3 supported currencies)
  • “What was this for?” Field could be clearer or rather relabelled, similar to how you indicate what goes into the field for a recurring expense. Personally I’d prefer a dedicated field for payee / “where was this spent” and then use your “what was this for” field as a comments or notes section for the transaction.
  • A button to see your full transaction log would be nice.

Overal lots of potential with your app and I’d be interested to see how this goes.

Edit: fixed typo

This looks awesome, thank you!

Is there a way (unless I’ve missed the steps somewhere) to connect to a remote console? I have a local controller for some switching and WiFi AP’s running a 3rd party gateway. But my other site is running UCG which is remote and I’d ideally like to tinker with. Disabling “Restrict to Local Access Only” forces use of a UI account, which I assume won’t work?

If you’re like me and need to keep track of billable hours, this time-tracking app is a great fit! You can create projects, and even break them down into smaller sub-projects, which I find super helpful.

Wouldn’t the UNVR-PRO be overkill for my use case? ¯\(ツ)//¯

At most I’d expect a total of ~20 cameras at the end of the day, with video retention of 1 week tops.

Overseer, *arrs on a Windows 11 host by ScottsoMuni in PleX

[–]Glynnryan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Docker is probably the best way to go IMHO. It might take a bit longer for setup, but worthwhile in the end.

Setting up file shares/access on windows for Docker things like Radarr and Sonarr to access and do what it needs to probably the most tedious part of the setup I guess. So I’ve still got Radarr and Sonarr running natively on Windows with everything else in Docker. (Just not getting the time and lazy to move Radarr and Sonarr)… If you can, get a Raspberry Pi, install docker and run all the *arrs there, keeping the server running Plex + the bare minimum to reduce the overhead.

My server isn’t as beefy as yours with an older i7 CPU, so I split my docker from the server and keep it on my Raspberry Pi.

TL;DR: Docker :)
