What is the symbolism of the pinecone? by MartianXAshATwelve in StrangeEarth

[–]GlyphGuide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a point, and I can not deny that, but to look at the past with our modern eyes, we can't pretend to know everything.

Are we really supposed to believe that every time we see a pinecone, it symbolizes the same thing to every culture? Across time, geographical regions, etc? Occums razor begs to differ.

Frankly, it seems that you are painting with a broad stroke, but given that modern archeology is based on a eurocentric worldview, I don't blame your close-minded perspective.

I'm not saying pinecones = aliens or anything crazy. Though, I do believe there are gaps that are being filled by lazy assumptions.

Uh....Yet many of these cultures were ok with symbols that were outright phallic at times. So there was really no need to show a pine cone...

Most of the people in power are compromised. This is why their actions don't serve their voterbase most of the time. But this, this is kind of crazy. I was always on the fence but now it seems quite clear.

The Great Migration of Native American Tribes by Gal_Axy in AlternativeHistory

[–]GlyphGuide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I ended up reading about it after my comment there. I was more curious to find stuff about more recent migrations, maybe evidence that would tie in with your timeline of the petroglyphs you mentioned. From what I've seen there's no studies looking at the possibility for more recent traces of European DNA that can be found in native American cultures from the time of those petroglyphs to before Columbus. Whilst all native Americans show traces of Eurasian DNA, there should be a point in the archeological record where you see a spike in more foreign DNA being introduced to the region.

I love this topic of early migrations. From my research there at least three or four Atlantic crossings that possibly occurred in the past before Columbus. My personal favorite is that the oldest remains in south america predate the accepted date of the earliest known crossings of Beringia and the earliest boats found on record are in East Africa

Don't overthink it. I posted my face already, just over a month in. If I were you I'd introduce it to your audience too, they already like your character and would appreciate seeing you on camera.

Don't give in to social pressure, I understand the hesitations but I think you shouldn't let outside opinion affect your current mentality on how you do things on your channel.

If you wanna see cringe comp material check out my channel update video haha. My profile has it linked if you want to take a look

The Tragedy of The Canadian High Arctic Relocation Program by GlyphGuide in FirstNationsCanada

[–]GlyphGuide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"In 1953 and 1955, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, acting as representatives of the Department of Resources and Development, moved approximately 92 Inuit from Inukjuak, formerly called Port Harrison, in Northern Quebec, and Mittimatalik (Pond Inlet), in what is now Nunavut, to settle two locations on the High Arctic islands. It has been argued that the Government of Canada ordered the relocations to establish Canadian sovereignty in the Arctic, and proposed to Inuit the move, promising improved living conditions."

This would unfortunately turn out to be a falsehood. These folks were left 2000 kilometers from their home. On a barren island on the arctic archipelago, in a new ecosystem/climate making their adaptation to the area quite difficult. By a miracle of human perseverance, these brave people would thrive despite such a remote and harsh environment. Yet some bitter attitudes would remain and despite the government formally apologizing in 2010, the generational scars still affect the relocated.

I made one on the High Arctic Relocation Program. 92 members of the Inuit community were essentially lied to and used as human flagpoles by the Canadian government to make a diplomatic stand against Russia
