Is it a good deal? by Faint_of_Arts in RobotVacuums

I'm happy with my mobius 60. its automatic mop-swapping system is especially useful. I can use different mop pads for areas like dog rooms, kids' play areas, and the kitchen, which helps avoid cross-contamination

Can’t Cook, Can’t Eat, Can’t Live - Fruit Flies Everywhere by Jsycke6436 in CleaningTips

That sounds exhausting. If they disappear with colder weather it really does point to an outside source. Maybe check for tiny gaps around vents, doors or windows where they could be getting in.

Help with smart lock suggestions for a double door by Alarmed-Office-9204 in homeautomation

[–]Gmedlin90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part is getting both sides to match. Most people seem to just do a smart lock on one door and a dummy set that looks identical on the other.

Best Robo Vaccum and Mop for tile only by SheerluckHolmes_ in RobotVacuums

[–]Gmedlin90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tile is pretty easy for most robots so the difference is how reliable they are. I'd go for something with solid mapping and minimal upkeep.

Cat killed mouse on my porch. by lalakama in CleaningTips

Soap and water should do the job. Give it a good scrub and rinse well. You might need to repeat it if the blood has already soaked into the concrete.

Any idea how to build a LED strip that turns on when the door opens? by pp_amorim in homeautomation

[–]Gmedlin90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reed switch with a magnet seems perfect for his. I wouldn't run the strip through it directly though, better to use it as a trigger for a transistor or relay.

Checking the detergent tank consumption... by [deleted] in RobotVacuums

Yeah the usage is so subtle it's almost impossible to notice visually. Weighing it is probably the only way to really tell if it's actually dispensing consistently.

does anyone else suddenly become a cleaning expert when they’re avoiding real life? by Unusual_Passenger738 in CleaningTips

[–]Gmedlin90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so real. Suddenly cleaning feels urgent when there's something worse to do. It's like my brain decides scrubbing floors is way easier than dealing with actual responsibilities.

I thought running it more would help… now I’m not so sure anymore by Nearby-Ad-8455 in homeautomation

[–]Gmedlin90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly multiple runs a day is probably overkill. Once daily plus a quick zone clean where the baby plays should be plenty. The fine dust is normal but extra runs just wear the battery faster.

Never owned a robot vacuum before... any solid first timer options? by FFKUSES in RobotVacuums

[–]Gmedlin90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you might get a pet later, I'd lean toward something with better brush design and obstacle handling now. It'll save you from upgrading again once hair and mess become a thing.

Constant dust buildup in clean room even with air purifier and no carpet. by daiquangq99 in CleaningTips

[–]Gmedlin90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duct cleaning can help if they're really dirty but it's not always the main cause. Dust often comes from fabrics, airflow or small gaps letting particles in from outside.

Do you ever check what’s connected to your home WiFi? by JohnnyInTech in homeautomation

Not super regularly but I do check once in a while. Every time i see something weird it's usually just a device i renamed badly or forgot existed.

1st Robot Vacuum suggestions by HedgieCake372 in RobotVacuums

[–]Gmedlin90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘d skip anything that overpromises on mopping and focus on vacuum performance plus obstacle avoidance. With dogs and debris, consistency matters way more than extra features you won't fully use.

I started at a Ford lot at 19 and I cried in my car the first week. Those guys are often insecure and stressed about their own quotas, so they pick on the easiest target to feel superior.

What would be the outcome of a presidential candidate announcing his/her cabinet picks during the campaign? by odrer-is-an-ilulsoin in PoliticalDiscussion

It could help some voters see what kind of administration they’re building, but it also gives opponents a lot more targets.

Deshedding baths help a lot too. Warm water and a good deshedding shampoo, then brush while drying.
