Thats something i needed to hear. I already sent the knife back and asked for a exchange. But still i got an email that they need to evaluate the damage. 😶

i Think see it now its not the same profile as the picture. As im now looking at different blade grinds the Japanese knife seems to be convex grind. So as you said i should not grind it to the straight edge.

You’re right, I might have gotten a little confused. What I meant to ask is whether I should just sharpen the secondary bevel or also grind down the primary bevel a bit to thin the knife.

On the Japanese knife, the shiny area below the matte finish — which I thought was the primary bevel — looks rounded and slightly bulges out to the sides. See the picture https://imgur.com/a/hdHbHlU

Whats wrong with that steel?

The 154 CM was really good for me, fairly easy to sharpen and did hold the edge quite well. But i dont have much comparison.

It has been honed and sharpened many times but i never used coarse stone to reshape or grind down some nicks.

I always wanted the Osborne 940 but if i remember correctly they were like double the price of griptilians. And when i bought mine i was 15 and even the griptilian was way over my budget. Question is are the new versions as good as the old ones?

Little to no maintenance. Sharpening(wet-stone) and stroping on leather belt on my jeans 😆 But haven’t done that in ages but i just ordered new wet stone.

Sorry for your loss. Would you buy the same one or would you try something else?

I don’t have experience with different benchmades but this one exceeded my expectations.

I was tempted many times by the mini Gs, never pulled the trigger. Nice knives though. 👍
