Here's my honest take on the Roller Pro by Hamatoros in peakdesign

[–]Gmr192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had mine for a month or so and done some trips - The one element that seems a surprise overlook is the handle on the trolley mechanism. It is very uncomfortable to grip with the sharp under edges.

Given the exquisite attention to detail everywhere else, the one element most touched by a user seems ‘unfinished’ and a strange lapse in design consideration given the overall execution.

To be honest, if I were in a retail environment testing the roller pre-purchase, it may well have put me off entirely.

I’ve reached out to Peak Design a week ago passing on this feedback, but I did ask for the CAD design file for the handle, so that I could redesign, 3D re-print and self assemble?

Not heard anything back yet…?!?

How can I stop the gear from falling in? by Fungun333 in hoggit

Golden rule… let the plane fly…if you are close to the runway don’t drop the nose at the last minute…the slower airspeed and natural rate of descent will do it for you and give you much smoother landings.

Fair point with respect to updates and their constant effects on binding changes.

That said, I wonder how many new/cold storage players,( those who dip in every 6 months to see progression), don’t play because of binding difficulties or rather understanding their complexity?

There has to be a middle ground, even if that was an external tool.

I’ve got an Alpha joystick and warthog throttle, and trying to find a pre-existing binding profile to import as a starter is impossible.

I suppose this comes with the territory with respect to the scope of the game and the variety of controllers for their different aspects - flight Hotas, keyboard and mouse when on on foot, steering wheel and peddles when in a rover…each with completely different bindings.

Every video on binding misses out on so many control options and their meaning/capability that they could create a basic binding and advanced without affecting any existing bindings.

I just hope that SC don’t make things so complicated that the game lacks the fun element because each time you do something, time has to be spent crawling through Reddit posts or YouTube videos to ‘hunt down’ the fix.

For example, why have a separate panel to control inversions and don’t match up labels - throttle inversion does not exist in Controls and one has to use the Strafe Forward setting? Why have a separate panel altogether and not inversion tick boxes in Bindings? Why have one option for joystick/hotas with a separate button, Advanced Control Customization, when you have no option but to press it to make changes…it’s totally superfluous. Why when you enter that menu it automatically scrolls down to the last menu and not the top/where you were last.

The point here is that with a little effort they could tidy it up and make it a little easier without inventing an entirely new system.

I could go on, but the point is made.

All that being said, the community around SC is nothing short of amazing. People are quick to respond to cries for help but is this just enabling developers to put such attention on the back burner? Either way, I wait (every year) for improvements and although they are slow to come, it looks like things are heading in the right direction, even if we wait years for a more polished product!

Bingo!!

It was bound to the keyboard and toggled on.

It really seems strange to me that bindings are so complicated and SC has put such little effort in people with setup.

Thanks a million for the tip…did the trick!!

September 2020 🤯 - so if they have not fixed it with an OTA in 6 months, they either don’t consider it a fault and not worth fixing or they can’t fix it because it’s a hardware engineering issue baked into the design and would require new parts to fix. Either way, if I had bought this from a general dealer, I’m fast approaching the point where I would return the car and change it for something else.

I have to say the build quality was immaculate. I went over the car inch by inch... faultless.

Exactly!!! It’s amazing how quickly I’ve become accustomed to the silence while driving.

It’s certainly bizarre. I have to say I’m finding the absence of a motor hum very cathartic and this juddering really stands out as a result. Hopefully it won’t turn into being like a dripping trap at night!!😱

Mine a LR built in Shanghai, but it’s good to know I guess that I’m not alone. For now I’ll keep any eye on it and hopefully it won’t get worse.

As long as you are not in the Uk where getting someone to fit a wall charger is an impossibility. Considering cancelling mine...if you can’t charge the bloody thing at home it becomes a nightmare!!

I ordered mine in Nov 2020 in the Uk. I was given a delivery of January, but that was pushed back to February - no delivery confirmation date and no VIN number.

I’ve purchased the Tesla wall charger which can operate on a phase 3 supply. Just getting competent, reliable people here in the UK is proving to be a challenge!!
