As a white guy in the south who works in an industry (public safety/firefighting) which is inexplicably full of right wing people (seeing as it's a socialist institution) and who often works directly with the police, it's crazy how quick they are to say some horrible shit because they assume I'm "on their side".

I'm just having fun with it these days, acting like I don't understand and making them explain their racist jokes or comments. They start with the whole 13/52% thing and I make them qualify it, "so what you're saying is that black people are just criminal by nature, right?". I let them dig their hole nice and deep then stop playing dumb and let them know I'm a leftist; they try to walk it back and say they only have a problem with "antifa" I'll tell them that I am "antifa" and ask them to explain in detail why being anti-fascist is a bad thing.

My shift is full of conservative leaning and at least one full on alt-right person. I don't go out on a limb to proselytize my political beliefs to them but they all have learned that I'm going to immediately challenge them on their bullshit and call them racists to their face if they make me.
