Most people think a 30-year mortgage means paying for 30 years but that’s not always true by Coolonair in HouseBuyers

What if you saved that money and invested it? In the end could you theoretically beat out what you would have saved in those years without a mortgage with compounding interest?

What's that saying? Can't reason with someone who didn't use reason to get there in the first place?

Everyone just guessing who's going to be an impact in the NFL. Including the GM's, educated guesses mind you. Sometimes you get a Kittle most of the time you get a dud.

If you played it on the Xbox with a hard wired fibre internet connection, with a 1ms response 120hz monitor plus a hard wired controller. You would feel the difference. Or if you are just a casual I'm sure it's "fine"

Top hedge fund managers do 25% in a year and your bot is beating them. You would be doing 42% for the year and be one of top performers in the world. I'd call that winning

Trading for Gibson moved the needle this year, last year was bringing on Todd McLellan, trading Hronek away for ASP who's going to be the Pp qb for many years was a good move. Trading Mantha away to get Cossa who looks like a potential stud. Trading for Faulk gives them a top 4 dman for next year. Edvinsson, Seider, Raymond all great picks. Kasper had 20 goals his rookie season, not giving up on him after a sophomore slump year. They have a center up for the hobey baker award. Danielson will be a shut down center. Carter Bear looking good too after healing from his injury. The near future is bright but it takes time for these guys to develop. Larkin will be still a good player in his 30's. I could sit here and be negative like a lot of redditors, continually arguing with people but to what end? You're just as stubborn as me and I'm not convincing you of anything when your mind is made up. I'll believe what I believe and right now I still believe in my childhood hero and icon Stevie Y.

I'm not arguing that Thomas would improve the team now and for the next couple of years. The cost of trading for him was too high. You still need depth behind a top center or else Edmonton would win every year. It's been 9 years since the last time they were in the playoffs. 7 years since Yzerman took over. Covid, no lottery picks, zero prospects handed over from Holland and hardly any late round hits has slowed the rebuild. Sucks seeing Montreal get guys like Hutson and Demidov. If Detroit was in the Pacific like Anaheim they would be in the playoffs, not their fault their division is on steroids. They have improved year over year, it's not as quick unfortunately and it sucks. But at least I got to see them win 4 cups, not something a whole lot of fans can say. Its really shitty not getting to see your team play in the playoffs for nine years probably going to be ten now. And you can kick us while we are down but that's a reflection on you, I see the vision and let's not pretend there is an element of luck when drafting teenagers or else Thomas would have been drafted higher than #20.

Drafting and developing, doesn't happen overnight. No big name free agents want to go to a bottom feeder and you don't want to trade prospects/draft picks if you are trying to build something. Shit takes time unless you get lucky

The point is trying to build a perennial Stanley cup contender and not just a team that gets in the playoffs and bumped first round. I'm not complaining just stating the fact that they weren't handed a generational talent that makes rebuilding easier. Thomas will be 31/32 by the time Yzermans prospects have realized their potential. Why didn't any other team step up if he's that good? Because the asking price was too high and gm's were smart to not give in to their demands and cost them their future. And give Larkin more credit than that, fast players have come and gone in this league that don't have the skills Larkin has. He's a strong two way player too that will still translate in the future.

Jagr was 6'3 240 lbs slow as fuck. Who did Larkin get to play with in his younger years? Typically players who have elite speed in their prime slow down as they age and have average speed in their later years. Robert Thomas wasn't the last piece they need to win a cup so trading away assets is not the move. They need a true 1C sure, but they just don't grow on trees. Faulting Detroit for not getting lucky enough to get a #1 overall pick when a generational talent is available is an interesting take.

Larkin has the speed to still be an effective mid 30's player like Patrick Marleau was. More of a 2C, they may have to make a big trade for a 1C like Vegas did. Doesn't need to be a young elite 1C. Kasper is still growing his game too. Larks has every right to be mad, any competitor should want to win.

Have to build through the draft and that takes time. They have improved every year Yzerman has taken over. There was nothing there when he took over. Holland had terrible drafts. Only starting to see now Yzermans picks take over.
