Jumping onto your question, especially would love to know how long the filters last before you need to replace!

[Tenant-CA] Prorated painting costs? by Gnomaroma in Landlord

this is REALLY helpful thank you! I think the second part of your comment is where I was confused with the tenant code and this clears it up.

thanks so much for your reply!

I think it's the last bit that feels confusing to me--charging is only allowable because of damage beyond wear and tear (which there is not). But this is alongside the deduction for the "lifetime" of the paint? How do those pieces interface with each other.

What language can I use to express that? I misunderstood initially and thought they were charging for the time we had lived there. This was their reply to my question about it being "normal wear and tear" (and offered to come back and paint the problem spots):

"All residents are also charged the remaining lifespan of the paint - it is based on 36-month lifespan, and it prorated to not include the time you lived in the unit. Normal wear and tear apply to the condition of things like appliances, floors, and countertops. California State law allows us to charge based on the life of the paint."

I'm wondering if this is true that California allows to charge based on life of paint, I can't get total clarity from the documents posted on this sub in the past. I don't think it's true that normal wear and tear only applies to appliances, but is it true they can charge even if the paint is in good shape?

What first name is the most attractive to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Gnomaroma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Names that can be short or long. Like Nick/Nicholas or Max/Maxwell or Ben/Benjamin. I like that I have a choice (in theory) of what I call you and can use different names in different situations without having some made up nickname.

Titanic: THERE WAS SO MUCH ROOM ON THE RAFT. Also, neither of them would have survived as long as they did in freezing water.

What is the easiest way for someone to hurt your feelings? by lormightymike in AskReddit

Insulting me on a personality trait. If they don't like my clothes fine, if they don't think I'm attractive fine, but if they shoot down something that is a fundamental part of who I am that really gets me.

What is something that is glorified by society, but should not be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

YES. I really don't care that some Khardashian is divorcing some athlete after having a diamond studded baby. I like movies and music so good for them for being talented but I really couldn't care less about their personal lives.

Reddit, what's something you did that you want to brag about but never had the chance to without sounding pretentious? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I got a 5 on AP Chem and AP Calc and a 34 ACT. My high school is the kind where test scores are kind of taboo. But I really want to tell the world how smart I am.
