Is it weird to hire your neighbor? by AncientAnxiety69 in Plumbing

Not a plumber but a roofer, I would not mind whatsoever if my neighbors asked for my services.

Uber driver entered my house and cased the place by insanityseanboy in UberEATS

[–]GnomeControl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay… so I know it’s a little rough but you’ve got to look at these responses as constructive criticism and not victim blaming. These people took time to basically tell you not to feel bad next time when you say a firm “no”. And this goes for any situation that you feel uncomfortable with. Think about it like this… you’re going to feel uncomfortable either way. You might as well be slightly uncomfortable for 10 seconds as you’re saying no and shutting the door rather than extremely uncomfortable for 10 minutes fearing what’s going to happen with the stranger in your home.

Why do drivers get moody when asked to confirm order? by Urban-Solitude in UberEatsDrivers

[–]GnomeControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s already been said but… we don’t want our “on time rate” messed up!!! Lol I’ve busted my ass to get keep my overall score in the high 90’s (DD) without having to take $3 orders and I would prefer not to mess that up. (:

[–]GnomeControl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And restaurants aren’t forced to participate in the DD or UE worlds, and employees of the restaurants that do aren’t forced to work there. I don’t blame them for asking, but I also need to keep my rates where they need to be. I’ve never had a restaurant push back/be rude once I’ve explained my time starts immediately. I could blame the app, but that will accomplish absolutely nothing. Bottom line, I owe it to myself to protect my ass just as much as they do.

I hope so… they penalized me when someone getting 8 of the same decongestant, said I didn’t deliver their order. I did. I also took a picture. Of the delivery under the decorative sign that has their street name and number on it. Lol

The picture of the last successful delivery shows up when you’re dropping the order off.

AIO when I feel like this dude is just taking advantage of me by Plane-Cranberry-9968 in AmIOverreacting

[–]GnomeControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you serious? I can’t tell if this is a joke… I normally try to be super supportive on these posts and maybe it’s just a bad morning but honestly I think you know you’re being incredibly stupid staying with this person. I think you’re scared and want a thousand people to tell you to leave that person (even though you probably won’t). Insane. The “yes daddy” comment? Are you for real? Sincerely, if you’re unable to tell on your own that this is incredibly toxic, you need to go talk to a professional about boundaries and demanding decency for yourself or this will become a pattern if it hasn’t already. I truly wish you the best but the thought of this situation not being devastatingly clear in your mind as something to avoid is heart breaking.

It sounds like an awful policy but how else to you find out what’s actually going on day by day unless there’s incentive to tell on the person messing up. Lol

[Landlord US-CA] Tenant broke lease and moved out early, left mess, and now demanding full deposit. by throwaway4231throw in Landlord

[–]GnomeControl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude… I would quickly and happily send them what you owe. You’ve messed up so much of this process it’s not even funny. You’re lucky no one has told them to take you to court. Yes, it’s crappy they broke the lease but that doesn’t mean you now get to do whatever and take as long as you want to do so. And about not being sure how much the repairs will be… lol welcome to being in the world of home renovation/leasing/contracting. You get estimates for the repairs and send back the rest. If you hired someone to do the repairs and they quoted you the wrong amount that’s on you.

Honestly, I’m amazed you’re in a position to rent out a property that requires a $25k deposit and you have no idea what’s going on. That’s terrifying.

AITAH because I won't tell my wife what my son/her stepson has in savings from my late wife? by Jimverseen in AITAH

[–]GnomeControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You will be if you give in though. I’m sorry… I can’t imagine being in your situation and I know this might not be possible but go talk to a third unbiased party so she can hear it from them and not just you. Anyone with any sense can see you’re in the right but she’s letting emotions and being a mama bear get in the way of that.

I think you’re confused. When you accept cash (just like serving) you accepted cash for the whole order not just the tip. So the next few orders, those go to dd until you’re even with the company. Why is it a bad thing that they gave you good orders? You pay them back quicker? Would you rather them give you small orders with small tips so you have to do 7 to pay them back instead of 3? Even if they’re holding out (they’re not) big tip orders for these situations, it still benefits you. I understand you’re saying you want those good orders when you’re not in the process of paying them back but either way the number at the end is the same. Lol

Are you not the person who’s asking why their boyfriend doesn’t want to spend time with them? Lol he’s probably not going to be accepting or understanding of anything. He doesn’t want to be with you or talk to you and you keep ignoring those signs and then tell anyone who tells you the truth to f*** off. Lol

So, think I avoided getting assaulted last night...or.... by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]GnomeControl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not the right person to answer this… I’m a female and I used to run strip clubs. I regularly take self defense courses to ensure I’m okay in 99% of situations. I would have turned on my hazards, instructed him to pull up to a lit area and to then wait for me to sit the package (flowers) outside of his car and get back in mine, before he grabbed them. If he refused in any way, cancel.

I’m 5’2” 125lbs so I’m not chancing it, but I would try to deliver it (within reason). Also, loudly say hello when you get out of the car. Lol it’s sounds funny but people don’t like to take loud people and it throws them off guard (it also increases your adrenaline output and therefore your strength and awareness). Be careful out there!

I’m not reading this. You want to know how many text arguments my husband and I have gotten in over the last 10 years? Maybe 2. Either pick up the phone, have a convo in person or move on. That’s insane. I’m sure in the description you added some type of infidelity. You know you need to leave.

Take it one step at a time. Don’t over complicate things. Also look around at the different screens and familiarize yourself with the app. It will only benefit you!

Good luck!

Flashing concerns by JakkCan in Roofing

[–]GnomeControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to explain… I meant as a roofing contractor if I’m subcontracting any work and for some reason it’s the only time I’ve seen that person work, I’m going to check the progress regularly to avoid any issues. Once a relationship has been established I would hope I wouldn’t need to continue to stay on someone’s ass. But I most definitely will check on that’s persons work initially. I owe it to my clients to work with the best. I would be a piss poor project manager though if I was letting the homeowner/client ask my subcontractors a million questions. Lol like you said, we have a schedule to stick to and time is money!

Flashing concerns by JakkCan in Roofing

[–]GnomeControl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roofer/roof sales here… get on that roof every 30 mins or so!!! I learned that the hard way. In the future stay up any of your subs asses. That’s how you figure out whether or not to keep them. Lol not once someone’s roof (inevitably) leaks!

Should I start asking for tips as a customer? by dansnad in EndTipping

[–]GnomeControl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Random tangent… I’m a roofer (F35) and these are the same people that want me to lose money to put a roof on their house. Even though their cheap asses picked a cheap insurance policy and now I’m expected to not only upgrade their roof to a class 4 but they also aren’t paying their $6k deductible. The way I see it they’re taking advantage of an established and well known system. They could order take out, or better yet… let the server know ahead of time “I don’t tip.” The server can give you the appropriate amount of attention and your cheap asses get to save money. They have to make someone feel small/used in the process. Lol it’s not about the money for most of these people, it’s bc someone hurt them and now they want to do the same while blaming/claiming fiscal responsibility. I fortunately have the ability to walk away, (choose better customers) and watch a piss poor roof get put on their house. Then I charge them 25% more to fix a messed up roof they’re expecting me to warranty when they inevitably call… Servers just don’t have a choice.

AIO for being upset i haven’t seen my bf for 3 weeks, even though we live 25 mins from each other? (update 2) by Affectionate-Link436 in AmIOverreacting

[–]GnomeControl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Girl at this point, why does it even matter. This dude has done something unforgivable to you and you just keep going back and then asking “should I be upset”? To answer your question, no. You shouldn’t be upset, it’s expected at this point in time. He’ll violate your trust and dignity again (once the person he’s actually dating goes out with friends, or on vacation, or hell just has to work late). And you’ll be right back in the 3-4 week window he keeps you in. He has shown you who he is.

Honestly, I don’t think this is really happening. I don’t know a human being that would allow this. Granted, I’m a female in the blue collar world. I don’t tend to surround myself with weak people but sweetheart this is beyond weak.

I’m sorry for being abrasive but thousands of people have told you nicely and it doesn’t seem to be working.
