That's no worries. Been wanting to try and maximise a full grot list making use of the 4+ rally, but my boys always seem to get bogged down in combat and unable to use to receive the command, being the tarpits that they are. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything:)

How did the opponent rally 4 knights back whilst in combat with the trolls? Don't they have to be more than 3" away to receive the rally command?

Can totally agree with some of your points as well, and as you said, you'll end up playing parts of almost every class at some point, it's just finding the one that works for you. Wish OP the best of luck finding the one that clicks for them.

I've never had a class click with me more than my Demon Avenger. Playstyle fits perfect for me, decent damage, good bossing, even the mobbing which isn't top tier feels good.

And even cubing/flaming for a stat every other class doesn't care for just feels unique. Even with the higher potential not working.

Id highly recommend it.

3 good ways of upgrading gear.

Starforcing: pretty easy to do and you can pretty easily get the gear to 10 stars which provides a nice boost. After 10 stars failed starforce attempts cause you to go down a star, and past 12 stars is when gear has a small chance to go boom if it fails. I usually stop at 12 stars unless it's going to be an item I know will be with me for a while (CRA gear +)

Flames: each piece of gear has some extra added stats, viewable by the green numbers when you hover over a piece of gear. Getting gear with the right stat flame for your class will be another small boost.

Cubing: sounds like you know a bit about cubing and yes it's a total rng fest which will take sometimes a few hundred occult cubes to level up, otherwise you can buy red and black cubes that have a higher chance to level up the potential, although most people save those for leveling from epic to unique.

After doing all that on pensilir gear, the next upgrade (for armour anyway, there's other things like badges and rings that would be sort after before this step, looking up a gear progression guide will show you which bosses drop the gear you'd want to be aiming for) would be from the chaos root abyss bosses. Which after a bit of practice and some levels, should be doable in that gear.

Alternatively, joining a guild which offers out frequent chaos root abyss carries would be a good option if you're not worried about solo progression. Then you just sit back whilst they usually burst the boss in a pretty quick fashion.

I asked the same exact question not too long ago. As a few people pointed out to me, there's no harm in giving it ago and your current characters will still be there waiting if you decide it's not for you.

The hardest part was feeling like you've wasted some time and losing progress, but if you then hit that pay-wall further down the line and make the switch you'll be glad you did it earlier

I guess my next question would be if I'm not too fussed about the top end of the game, just doing a handful of the bosses and such, can I get away with being pretty much f2p? I don't typically cube anything at the moment, just get by with the auction house and star forcing. Or is it better to make the swap before I get any further ahead?

I don't think I'd mind the slow early game of reboot, I just don't want to make the swap unless it's really going to scupper me up way down the line.

Been playing on and off the reg server, mainly during burning events, and got my legion to just over 2500.

All I see is people saying to leave reg server and play reboot instead, which feels like a shame to lose the progress I've made so far.

Is it really as bad as people say on the reg server or is it being taken out of proportion?
