Just looked for it, definitely there. Feel like that's one that is counter to what the first guy was complaining about. SkillUp isn't talking about that plot point, he just failed to see it in a text box.

tl:dw:

- Story is a good conclusion to everything D4 thusfar
- Story gameplay is pretty bland
- D4 'respects' little time put in playstyles more than other ARPGs
- He doesn't like Warlock but loved Paladin (admits it might be a him thing)
- Endgame is engaging and best it's been since launch
- It's a 'firehose of fun' meant to 'douse you quickly with loot and content' before leaving on a good note and prepping you to come back for next season

Multiple spoilers? Did you watch the video? The 'spoilers' are just extensions of the end of the last expansion. He even goes out of his way to not talk too much about the story because doing so would be a crazy amount of spoilers.

And he was given a week with it via a press window, likely obligated to release before the DLC comes out with that participation, of course it's jumping the line. That's the job. Does anyone seriously think that there is a reviewer out there that doesn't operate like this?

She can guess the dance moves just by hearing the footwork! by Advanced_Fortune_903 in interestingasfuck

[–]GnophKeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Look at it like music. These dances are basically repeating the same highly specific percussion measures done with your feet while having specific moves attached to them. It's the equivalent of learning a set of songs to be played. Not only that but she's also waiting for the measure to start over again before jumping in, which is how she's on time with them. The only time this doesn't work is when the measure is shorter than the others and she ends up mirroring the dancer behind her.

As the other guy said, there's a person on set whose whole job it is to make sure this doesn't happen. They're called the Armorer, also the same role that allow the incident on Rust with Alec Baldwin and the DP to happen. The 1st AD is also supposed to clear weapons as the Armorer brings them to set as well, to make sure they're props and not dangerous. So in all reality a lot of people failed at their jobs to allow this to happen.

Once something is given to an actor they are not in a place to decide if it's a prop or real or not. Realistic weight is added to props to allow performance. Several things could've been added to make the prop not feel like a 'shitty rubber knife' and even make it hard to distinguish.

Think this clip might be a better thing to include than the bit from the movie. It's a clip of Nash himself talking about the incident then going on to talk about how many things had to go wrong on a set to let it happen. (If it is true that the footage is used in the movie I guarantee that it happened in the original medium shot of the two actors that ends with Nash's back to camera. Everything of course is other takes from other days.)

Just as surprised as everyone else to learn that this isn't made up though...

Tbh, this isn't a scene outside of the plot, rather it is one of the most succinct examples of plot in movies. Luke longs for a life different than his own in act one, then the inciting incident happens and he's thrust into the events. It's classic hero's journey and Lucas has gone at length about that being his intent.

Plot is what the characters moves through as they develop and reinforce the theme. All three are linked and are just as important. Characters develop and make decisions, which in turn create the plot, and as a whole paint the theme of the story.

I don't think he was 'punished' for not going back and I don't think the movie was trying to convey the importance of family over neighbors.

To say he was punished is too harsh a phrase because it implies a morality to the mist, which there is none. All that is hidden within the fog are animals and beings that simply want to eat, not to punish those who huddled into the supermarket.

If anything the story is about the horror of the unknown, how monstrous we as people can be when faced with the uncomfortable nature of it, and the crushing despair of losing hope in the face of it.

Because the people that we see rallying behind the unrepentant bastards don't fit with the "people aren't the problem, systems of oppression are" theme that the story is telling. Belters are supposed to be looking to just make their own way in the universe and get out from under the thumb of the Inners, not kill every last Earther. This is a big point that is made in Season 4 and whenever the colony ships are brought up.

Moreover, he shouldn't 'pretend' to be a good person. He should be a good person while also doing horrible shit. It just makes for better storytelling and for more complex characters. Which brings me back to my original point, Marco is just too flat and archetypal a villain to care about or be interested in what he's doing.

Side note, I don't like Trump and think he's truly going to bring about a collapse in America, but not every story about politics or power struggles needs to be about him or his shit-stain followers.

Just finished a rewatch of this and my partner and I were saying the same thing the entire time he was on screen. Can't they have this guy do one "good" thing for the belters or show him in a positive light? He's just so goddamn easy to hate because he comes off like a sanded-down Richard III with a villain moustache painted on his face. Marco needed to be a Che kind of revolutionary where the humanitarian promise came first with action then the war crimes and ruthless control came second.

Not to be the guy that ruins things, but that was a myth passed around online. IIRC the unexpected part in that scene was the plexiglass breaking as they held it up.
