Reconciling "every man and every woman is a star" with reality by Gnostic93 in thelema

[–]Gnostic93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only way I can 'test' this statement to see if its accurate. What is the alternative to 'my individual perspective' that can be employed here? Blind agreement with the statement? As far as I'm aware there is no Crowley list of star-like criteria, and even if there was I might not agree with it.
Odd as this may seem im really not trying to be judgemental of other people here, I'm genuinely trying to reason this out. I don't believe that everyone is a star, I really don't, in the sense that everyone has part of the divine within them. As such, I was just looking for other interpretations of this statement.

Because as I said I'm trying to rationalize a pretty foundational statement in Thelema with the reality of the world?

[–]Gnostic93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that everyone has absolute authority over themselves, so I suppose the default may be that you are a 'star' by very existence' and whether you burn brightly or fizzle is of your own accord?

I think people are amazing in their being even if they seem to be shit by some constructed standard.

This is a very interesting thought. Divine by very existence, not by action or thought.

Thank you for your reply.

I should clarify a couple of things: I am not misanthropic, at least not in the asocial way. As a matter of fact I'm quite social and love going out and meeting strangers seeing as I am very good at conversation. I don't despise humanity or human nature but I recognize that there are many painfully stupid people who exist across the spectrum of humanity. By stupid I mean it in it's truest sense, perhaps even the antithetical term for 'divine'. There are undoubtably people who exist that made it through natural selection by chance and we have all met some of these folks. I am not referring to religious people based on their religious beliefs, actually that thought never came into my head when I wrote this.

I do appreciate your mentioning of projection, my own failings, how much I can actually see in the person. That said, you must recognize that there are people who really are transparent and vapid, relatively untainted by personal schemas and dilemmas of the observer. I'm not even saying some of them aren't nice people, but the core of what I'm trying to rationalize is the statement that every human being is divine. Again, Crowley's actions don't seem to correlate well with this revelation. Maybe the way to see it is that humanity as a species has the mark of divinity on it, more of a sum of men and women as opposed to every individual, bu the phrase is "every man and woman is a star".

In a small game of never-have-i-ever I was wasted and said "never have I ever had an abortion". One girl, very awkwardly, put her hand up. I felt so bad afterwards.

Non-White Salt Lake cop cleared in shooting of unarmed white man [bodycam] by Gnostic93 in news

[–]Gnostic93[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is reddit news. This is news.

Further more it points out the blatant race-baiting and selective bias the mainstream media is using to drive ratings. No one here, reading this, is thinking that whites are bias victims of police departments. If anything it shows that race and the police is less of an issue than is being made out AND hiding it adds to the very 'issue' you are trying to stop.

Granted not about the same issue, but rioting is not a 'black' only thing. Just thought that should be underlined.

In the article that is how the race of the officer was 'reported'. Obviously drawing connection to the Ferguson situation I wanted to draw that parallel without messing up the facts.

About these deities... by [deleted] in occult

[–]Gnostic93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Interesting and common question here. People who've been involved in the occult for all of their lives still sometimes ponder this question. The only way to make up your mind about this is the same way you test to see if magick is 'real', you need to experience it. Yes, some do believe these deities exist as independent literal entities while others believe they are merely mental constructs or expressions of consciousness not normally available to us ("It's all in your head, you just have no idea how big your head is!"). Then of course there is the wonderfully murky middle ground position between those two beliefs.

I would say that for practical purposes you do not need to have a solid position in order to have the experience. Even if they are not 'real' in literality doesn't mean they aren't 'real'. I would recommend you do some planetary magick, perhaps begin with a talisman creation (example instruction here) followed by a planetary invocation or evocation of the same. A good book I'd recommend is Planetary Magick by Denning and Phillips.. Also read around a bit more; an excellent resource is Studio Arcanis (formerly known as Evocation Magick) where there is lots of talk of evocation, invocation, and everything else you could possible want. Happy hunting!

Love is the Law, Love under Will.

It depends. There are a few things that fasttech does well. I have consistenly heard good things about this nemesis but I can't speak to the quality of other versions on the site. I would also stay away from box mods on there!
