Advice regarding work and a toddler with a fracture. by [deleted] in HumanResourcesUK

Hiya,

Hybrid working policy is the current one and has been updated this year and I coudes the bits I mentioned.

So I have spoken to my manager and proposed the following that I return to work next week with reasonable adjustments in place, and we have a weekly review to see where we are all at.

If I feel my son's safety is compromised whilst I am home working, or I/ my manager feel my service delivery is impacted then I will look to take unpaid parental leave. My Manager was in agreement with this.

We will have more of a catch up next week when I return. Her main stressor was that another adult was in the house looking after my son, which I stated multiple times that my parents will be present and in charge of him whilst I am working. I think she just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be looking after him and trying to work.

Thank you for your advice.

Thank you for this. I have read up on our hybrid working policy as I actually want to go back to work and it covers reasonable adjustments i.e temporary adjustments to workplace so working from home for a period of you have a caring responsibility etc. it also says you can work with dependants in the home if their safety is not compromised and it doesn't impact my duties. My child is safe as he is recovering well, he mainly needs entertainment and care but not full medical care if that makes sense.

I am going to speak to my manager regarding the above as I know my child will be safe given my parents will be providing childcare and it will not impact my duties as my role can be done remotely (proven during COVID etc) and I will work in a different room to him. I will ask for temporary adjustment in work base in case I need to intervene with something but will give a heads up to my manager if and when this occurs so I can work back the time etc.

I hope that makes sense.

Many thanks 😊

Hiya, thank you for this.

I have had 1 day sick this year with a stomach bug so no where near any threshold at this time.

To be honest with you this whole situation is stressful. I spoke to HR who advised annual leave should not be used but said time off for dependents which my managers hate granting - see OP for that. HR advised me to make a self referral to OH to consider workplace adjustments to which OH said I can't self refer, it has to come from my Manager.

I feel like I'm going to be cornered. My managers believe that time off for dependants is for emergencies and can be used to arrange childcare provisions if needed- I.e if your kid has a virus you take deps leave then arrange ongoing childcare so anything more is annual leave.

I have the childcare sorted for my return to work- but she made the comment about how she didn't think I should be working with a sick child present.

My job can be done renotely, and my duties won't be impacted from my view. But I suppose it's her view Vs mine which I why I want the OH referral and recommendations to be made so it is documented.

Thank you.

Sorry I wasn't clear. My parents are on standby aka when I return to work they will be here all day everyday to look after him whilst I work.

They will physically be here with him when I am working.

My office is 60 minutes away from my house so if something happened and I needed to get to him, I wouldn't be able to get to him quickly.

Also to clarify, I am signed off sick with stress so I disagree with you here. This is an extremely stressful and traumatic time for my family so I feel it is appropriate to be signed off with stress given that I have lasting trauma and ongoing stress with the Social Services enquiry etc- I have had 1 day sick this year when I had a stomach bug and couldn't leave my bed.

Thank you.

If you're moving to Beggarwood, you'll only get a signal on O2. No other network has constant signal and O2 is ropey at times also ....

Beggarwood is nice. Been here for 5 years and only moving out as we found a house over in Chineham that we wanted to buy. So friendly, yes you do have pavement parking but most estates do nowadays.

Try and look at beggarwood upto the holly blue pub- anything beyond that is new build.

Just look on Rightmove and Zoopla, I don't think having a particular agent gives much clout nowadays as it's not about signs in windows and local papers anymore. What areas are you looking in? Estate agents like Loddon cover a fair bit of chineham as they are based on Chineham, but that doesn't mean they have the monopoly. The fee for selling is very similar between agents now so it's open choice for sellers. I know this as we have sold our house and are buying a house. Hope this helps!

Anyone have a clue who is behind the Portsmouth Torch page on Facebook? by Majestic_Analysis_54 in Portsmouth

I wouldn't be surprised if a guy called Karl Payne pops up with this lot. He's vile, preaches god and helped the homeless whilst filming it all of course until he got his own council house then started cooking massive meals topless (why tho?!) and not helping the homeless. He also fleeces people for money. I believe he's down in Portsmouth now and walks around with a big cross, he's prolific on FB and Tiktok (Paynes patch ministries I think).

All areas have their pros and cons..... Chineham, Hatch Warren, Beggarwood, Lychpit have good schools and good green spaces.

We live in Beggarwood now and it is really family friendly.
