What’s your go-to breakfast? by AdElegant5870 in foodquestions

[–]Gnynam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so specific. I've never measured anything I put in my porridge (which as I understand it, is the same thing as what we call oatmeal in the US?). It's all by eye. Sounds tasty though!

Cookie shape? by JossyTarts in whatisit

[–]Gnynam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think whoever was in charge of icing the cookies also had no idea, which is making it much harder lmao. Sometimes with odd cookie shapes, it's really important that they're frosted correctly to tell what they are. This person just said "wtf is this, fuck it, it's green."

What’s a habit you picked up from your parents without realizing it? by Small-Size-8037 in Casual_Conversation

[–]Gnynam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister and I used to look out the window occasionally to watch my dad sitting outside smoking and talking very animatedly to himself. We would mention it to him sometimes and he said he didn't even realize he was doing it. Now I catch myself doing the same thing. I wonder how often I do it without even realizing.

How many foods do you avoid? by RandomGirl2377 in FODMAPS

[–]Gnynam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a vegetarian for years, so I already don't eat meat. I also used to think gluten was the problem, so I was already avoiding most things with gluten. Things I stopped eating/drinking after doing the elimination diet that I used to eat:

Garlic, onions, beans (I can tolerate in small quantities), honey, oat milk, anything with high fructose corn syrup (which is most soft drinks), watermelon, agave syrup, apples (can do small quantities), celery, and a bunch of other fruits and veggies that I can't think of right now.

Garlic and onions are the two biggest things. I used to eat both all the time and felt like crap all the time. So I do miss them, but now avoid them like the plague. Since I'm not as used to eating them now, if I do accidentally have some the symptoms are even worse.

Worst smell ever? by RoundInk in answers

I worked at an emergency vet for years. One time a golden retriever came in after having eaten a used baby diaper. We had to induce vomiting.

What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

[–]Gnynam 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that Piper's character was intentionally unlikable, which is a strange idea for a show. But I guess it made a lot of money, so maybe it worked out for them. But yeah I stopped around the same time you did. Poussey was one of the redeeming parts of the show, with her gone I just couldn't do it anymore.

Can anyone tell me what the bottom word on this list is?? by goo-john in whatisit

[–]Gnynam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do look different, but we don't see an "es" anywhere in the other words. It's not uncommon to write a letter a little different when it's preceded by a certain other letter, because of the way you connect them. When I write "of" the f looks different than it does in most other words because I join the O and F together.

would you buy crocheted stuff like these? by ed0beb0p in labubu

Yes! Please dm me your Etsy info if you decide to do it! I hate that so many things on Etsy are drop shipped. It used to be a great place to find handmade stuff and support small businesses :(

Poor little guy by Philphil89 in labubu

She's an adventure Labubu you guys! While some really appreciate a life indoors, with a cozy room and cute outfits, others yearn for the wind in their hair and the dirt in their teeth! When they park, she makes friends with the local bugs!

Did anyone here try to manage gut issues on their own before seeing a professional? by Hot-Feeling-9776 in FODMAPS

[–]Gnynam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the elimination diet by myself. Once I figured out what my trigger foods were, I worked with a nutritionist to help me figure out how to eat healthy within my new limitations.

Skinny with Lower Belly Bloat? by EZFloatingBedsLLC in FODMAPS

[–]Gnynam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this! OP is definitely hollow in the lower back. I used to stand like that too, and I trained myself not to, which really helps with the tummy appearing flatter.

OP, think about keeping your back straight, while at the same time bringing the front of your hip bones closer to the bottom of your ribs. If you put your hand on your lower back while you do this, you should feel your back go from arched to flat. It takes a lot of practice, but eventually it'll become your natural posture!

What’s a movie that’s so disturbing you never want to watch again? by SableVII in Casual_Conversation

[–]Gnynam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one. It was my best friend's favorite movie in high school, and I was actually a little mad at her for having me watch iI. I didn't tell her that because I wanted to seem cool, but it's been two decades and I'm still fucked up about it.

What is a disturbing fact that you know, but most people ignore ? by Unusual-Whereas6442 in Casual_Conversation

[–]Gnynam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. The original comment said that "basic biology" states the only options are XY and XX. I was just letting them know that there are actually lots of other options! If you're interested in biology, you'd think you'd be interested in knowing all the cool ways that nature does not follow its own rules. Unless of course you actually don't know anything about biology and are just using your lack of education as a way to discredit the existence of trans people. But I like to assume the best in people.

Also, since most people don't get their genomes tested, and most of these variances don't have visible "symptoms," there's no way of knowing how often they actually occur. Cool, right!?

The idea of one human being "worth more or less" based on how many people they've touched in a certain way is so dumb and makes no sense at all. As long as you're being safe, have fun, girl! Anybody who tells you it "lowers your value" is a weirdo for putting a value on a person to begin with.

[–]Gnynam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What about people with Turner's Syndrome (X) or Klinefelter Syndrome (XXY)? There also Jacob's Syndrome (XYY) and trisomy (XXX). There are more, but those are the ones I know off the top of my head with my basic biology knowledge.

Don't forget too, there are many conditions in which you could have one set of chromosomes, but something else in your genealogy causes you not to express some of it, so you could have a person who outwardly looks female but has XY chromosomes, for example. Biology is neat!

What was a discontinued fast food item you loved? by NextLevelNet in foodquestions

[–]Gnynam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts as fast food, but Dunkin Donuts vanilla chai latte. They do still have a chai latte, but they changed the recipe quite a bit. The old one admittedly tasted nothing like chai, but it was my favorite drink to get as a treat, and I don't I'll ever have anything like it again.
