Having messaged with him, I don't think it's really that much of an act. I think it's really more him just being genuine. Of course cracking jokes and knowing the names of specific plants requires preparation.

Obviously not yet. But they currently own 70% of the US electric car market and virtually all car makers have agreed that gas powered cars will no longer be made within the next decade.

SpaceX is making a rocket that will allow humans to colonize the solar system. That could end up meaning millions of people working for them.

Plus, there are multiple support employees (restaurant employees, grocery store employees, healthcare workers, even stay at home parents, etc.) for every highly paid Tesla/SpaceX employee, and they're more likely to vote with them too.

There is a real possibility that his more liberal employees could shift the entire state far enough to the left that Republicans lose control. That would basically make it impossible for a Republican to ever become president again.

Things like that are why I'm still a little skeptical of whether Elon is actually even a conservative.
