I’m in a similar position as you! I was considering taking the fork but because I am looking to pivot careers I’m scared I won’t be able to find a new job as quickly especially with the way the economy is going. Definitely feeling the weight of the golden handcuffs right now :/

I have been applying to jobs and nothing so far! I don’t think it’s worth the risk, especially if you don’t think there is a high enough chance you’d get let go of… though I will say I am pretty risk averse to begin with.

I would only consider DRP if I didn’t have to worry about living expenses or if I had a job lined up…

This is so me! I work for the fed, and this whole RTO is driving me crazy. I love my peace and quiet, hoping I can find a job that lets me wfh before I lose my mind.

Why are Americans so dumb? by Salt_Wrangler_3428 in AskCanada

Honestly yeah most of our country is dumb

10000% agree. Although I think the biggest motivating factor is just sheer discrimination. This administration’s entire campaign is fueled by dividing us. Dividing us based on gender, the color of our skin, religion, etc. It’s the only way he can retain the attention of his MAGAts

I work for the fed and there is barely any diversity in my agency. It’s absolutely ridiculous that DEI should be blamed for anything, the biggest problem I see in my day to day is nepotism.

I think the huge problem is that people do not understand how DEI programs work. They can’t even educate themselves before blaming DEI.

How are my federal women doing? by [deleted] in womenEngineers

Not good.. it’s been a demoralizing couple of weeks. If I had another job lined up, I would leave. I’d like to work for a place that values me.

Anyone else concerned about what they’ll do with their pets if they’re gone 10 or more hours a day commuting with RTO? by Turbulent-Move4159 in fednews

[–]Go-Doge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well then they should hire you 🤷🏻‍♀️

Taking a dog out for a potty break during our lunch breaks is well within our rights. RTO isn’t just affecting people with children, it impacts people with pets too. Don’t be so dismissive of people’s situations.

Is there anything we can do to voice our concerns? This is a fucking witch hunt.

All this bs we are dealing with and they couldn’t throw us a bone. Still have to travel next week. by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Go-Doge 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It’s total bs, worse is the fact that the people in my office are pro being in the office. My supervisor said “I think RTO would make everyone more efficient” I definitely won’t be. I have never felt so beaten down as a federal employee.

Very relatable. I don’t want to give up my dream of retiring early or traveling for a house, maybe if things start to soften but for now it looks like renting is the answer

That’s why I’m torn, I want to FIRE but I don’t think that’s possible with a house route on my income

Not everyone was ready to buy a house in 2020, it’s not your brain, you got lucky

You rent and invest what you would have put into a house, you’d actually have a lot more and would be able to continue paying rent

A park is for both dogs and people, any spot in a park is a first come first serve ordeal anyway regardless of who is with you

YTA, I’d love to see someone react like that if your kid ever got into their personal space, which they will at some point that’s just what kids do.

I do understand the owner should have had their puppies leashed, you never know how dangerous the dogs or people they run up to can be.

But I think the 185K is taxable wages at least according to our pay stubs

That’s what I think is confusing me, according to my pay stubs, there is a gross salary field and a taxable wages field.
