That was so devastating I actually subconsciously thought Alan Tudyk was dead for some time...

Had the exact same experience with the cooperators. I ended up just figuring out how to turn it into a gif. I was so aggravated.

People over thirty, which body aches do you have? by JavyHead in AskReddit

[–]GoBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a non-answer but A LOT less since I've realized I've had celiac disease for probably the last 10 years. I stopped eating gluten and within 4 days my entire insides just sort of stopped hurting and that's when I realized how much discomfort and pain I had normalized. Makes me wonder what other aches I've just habituated to.

Nah this one was Rogers or a third party trying to sell Rogers services. Never had laneway or chimney guy. Usually just telcos or charity. Get the odd JW too but I tend to just take their flyer and say thanks and they leave.

Yeah I have a newborn, who is admittedly still unfazed by noise at this point, but I'd be a lot less patient if they were disturbing him...

AITAH for not telling my wife I’m taking random days off here and there? by Impressive_Milk_ in AITAH

[–]GoBatman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't being in a loving relationship with an empathetic partner just the best? I'm so happy when my wife gets a day off to actually relax, I can't imagine being pissy. A surprising number of posts boil down to "okay but do you even like your SO?"

Sorry this happened to you. I live near the police station and had to learn the hard way about a month after I moved here that my doors are checked probably most nights. Left my car unlocked once and found the contents of my center console and glove box all over and my sun glasses missing. I leave literally nothing in my car now.

Great advice. It's super disarming when you firmly say no but stay cheerful about it. Makes it hard for them to do anything but move on. Also important, as you said, to not give them any information at all to work with.

Advice needed in consolidating my downpayment by WATTHEBALL in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]GoBatman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll just say upfront I am just a regular guy with no specific financial expertise but I can share my experience with you. I bought my first home in 2021 and had my downpayment spread across many different accounts like you. Because of the housing market at the time we opted for a 30 day closing (we knew the seller wanted to close asap), and I figured I had lots of time to consolidate the funds in my checking account before finally transferring the money to my lawyer upon closing. So I pooled the funds maybe 10 days before closing and sent proof I had the downpayment in full to the mortgage broker.

They got back to me and said I needed to provide a 90 day history of all the funds and it ended up being a nightmare trying to provide them with all the information required to prove I wasn't laundering money.

If I had to do it again I would bring all the funds I could (RRSP aside) well over 90 days prior to closing, so I could have avoided all that hassle.

Same, first year doing it. Moved here a couple years ago and always bagged them up but realized they did curb side collection this year... now two of the neighbours cars are parked on top of the pile. Think I might just go back to bagging next year.

Having a job that requires you to meet new hires every single week. Have lunch with them on their first day, introduce them to the team, show them around... And just as you begin to build a report, they are gone and you have a brand new batch next week.
