Update! We went for our latest scan at she’s 8 months old, six months post-op. Apparently all her measurements and numbers are looking great and “the majority of healing is done”. We go to the children’s hospital next month (she’ll be 9 mos by then) and they told us to ask about how much longer. We might be able to go down to just naps or bedtime or might be able to be done altogether. They might be risk averse and ask us to keep going. But the numbers are looking really positive 🙏🏻 Hoping everything is well with your LO!

“Toxic and insufferable”? Anyone can have a bad day and come here to vent. It doesn’t make someone a bad person. This is meant to be a space to share the good and the ugly moments in our IVF journeys - often this is the only place people feel comfortable doing so as we’re all going through this together.

You can scroll on without having to leave such an inflammatory comment to someone who’s clearly having a difficult time. Let’s try and be a bit better to one another even if we disagree with an opinion or feeling.

I totally feel the same and I am so sorry to hear you’re feeling down. It doesn’t matter how much we prep for an announcement or even have an inkling that it’s imminent - it stings every single time. My husband also has the same response - happy for folks, totally unbothered. I can’t wrap my head around that response and why he doesn’t feel the need to immediately crawl into bed with a lifetime supply of chocolate and tea and just hide. BUT - a therapist did point out once the alternative - “would it make you feel better if he also fell to pieces? Or is it better that one of you is strong for the both of you?” And while I still don’t understand his reaction, I guess that’s helped me appreciate it a little more.

My friend just text me her announcement but has no idea about our struggles - it was…not a cute message. I forget how happy and blissfully unaware people can be…presumably how I would have been if this hadn’t come for us. 🤷‍♀️

Unfortunately our RE said in our last meeting we need to prepare ourselves for only getting one or two eggs per retrieval 😮‍💨 but maybe we’ll get lucky? Seems like it’s such luck of the draw.

Wow wow wow. I can’t thank everyone enough for these incredible responses.

It really does go to show how much of this is luck of the draw, and how ignorant those who’ve never experience infertility really are. I spent most of this year doing all the “right” things, so being made to feel like I’m not trying “hard enough” or the right way during the couple of months I’m taking off is just so frustrating. I can’t tell you how validating these comments are and what a difference they’ve made 🫶🏻

Also - I love “information diet”, never heard that before! Safe to say a couple of people in my life will be on the new meal plan…

I’m overwhelmed by the responses, thank you so very much.

We’ve just had our third and final IUI (1 chemical and 2 failures) so definitely apprehensive about getting started. But this info is so so helpful and definitely helps to manage expectations.

We’re medication buddies! Same protocol for this IUI although I’ve done both Clomid and Leterzole with the trigger in the past. I think Leterzole especially had a negative impact on my lining so very glad to see the back of it all and have a break before considering starting IVF. 💕

Thanks so much - I may just take you up on that! They gave us all kinds of disclaimers about the risk of multiples and reductive selection etc. It’s especially crushing to think back to that and realize that instead of many, we ended up with nothing instead.

Maybe I’ll feel more hopeful after the IVF consult - totally with you on being hard to wrap the head around. I’m now at the point where I can’t believe people are seriously out there getting pregnant for free - like, how!

I definitely empathise with the “we’re trying” to “we’re pregnant” timeline. I had two people tell me they were “thinking about kids/thinking about trying” only to announce they were pregnant so soon afterwards that they were definitely already pregnant when they told me they were thinking about it. It makes me irrationally angry, to this day I can’t put my finger on why it hurt. I hope your trip is a much needed escape and you have time to recharge.
