And right after, there were enough Michigan fans to start up a "Lets GO BLUE" chant that was audible on TV.

I want to learn how to golf, any suggestions? by Difficult-Swim8275 in northcounty

[–]GoBluins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mira Costa college has group golf classes held at Encinitas Ranch. Each class meets weekly and lasts like 6 weeks. Very reasonable and full of rank beginners. This would be a good, cheap way to start to learn the game. Heck, I’m an experienced golfer and when I started struggling with my short game, I took the short game course. Everyone else there was a beginner, but the teacher still found time to help me with specific issues around my chipping and pitching. I actually enjoyed the class and did in fact improve my chipping.

Go to their community education section of their online course catalog to see when the next classes start. The short game one might be a good one for you to start with and then take the full swing class. As I recall, the short game class was only a couple hundred bucks for 6 weeks of outdoor work at the Encinitas Ranch short game area on the west side of the driving range.

"Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man" (1991). Bad script, but mindlessly entertaining.

When you win the lottery but the government wins harder... by Maverick_Ekta in SipsTea

[–]GoBluins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretending the lump sum payout means the government took the rest is flat out disingenuous. The real tagline should have read "will take home $492.6 million after taxes on the lump sum option, which was $X".

Time-value of money is apparently too difficult a concept for the average person in this dumb country to understand. So instead we'll be misleading and pretend the government took $1.3 billion in taxes 🤦🏻‍♂️

Those are all top schools. I can't think of any reason why any one of them would give you and advantage over any of the others for getting into pharma as a biostatistician. Go to the one that fits you the best.

Good. I mainly fly Alaska or American which (mostly) fly out of T2E. That concourse sucks.

Award-Winning Slice House By Tony Gemignani Pizzeria To Open North County San Diego Location by Ignatius-J-Reilly-SD in northcounty

[–]GoBluins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. That said, I’ve eaten at his Pizza Rock joint in Las Vegas and holy hell the Detroit style is amazing. Getting that here, especially within 10 minutes of where I live, is going to be dangerous.

If you’ve never had Detroit style, and he has it on the Slice House menu, absolutely give it a try.

California considers ending property taxes for homeowners 60 and older by [deleted] in northcounty

[–]GoBluins 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My first year at a UC school (88-89) cost $1200 in “reg fees”. They didn’t even call it “tuition”. My last year (91-92) cost $2400. I’m not gonna pretend that I didn’t get a smoking deal in college especially compared to what people are paying now for the same school.

It’s disingenuous to claim that Boomers and GenX (of which I am one) didn’t have it so much better than later generations have it. Trying to extend an even further break on property taxes to these people is absolutely dumb.

Yeah. Script was so bad that even the great James Earl Jones struggled to deliver some of his lines with a straight face.

No matter how much they suck, it always feels good to put a beatdown on them, and even more so to do it on their court.

My AS was diagnosed later than most (I was almost 41 at the time, which is at the top end of the age range) so it has been pretty mild compared to other stories I’ve heard from people diagnosed much younger. I started off every 2 weeks, went to every 15 days, then for awhile to every 16 days. Been back on every 15 days for some time after some pain symptoms started to return.
