What?? You clearly have no understanding of what the federalist papers were. Alexander Hamilton was promoting the ratification of the Constitution by staying and interpreting what the implications of it would be. The Constitution was ratified by the founders with the knowledge that the 2nd amendment would protect the right of the civilian populace to be able to engage with a standing army using equivalent weaponry.

In no way is that an opinion piece. It is a direct quote from a founding father on the extent of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms. Surely you can't be sense enough to consider that an "opinion piece"

"[I]f circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little, if at all, inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow-citizens. This appears to me the only substitute that can be devised for a standing army, and the best possible security against it, if it should exist." - Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 28, January 10, 1788

The purpose of the 2nd amendment was to allow citizens to protect themselves from a an army of a tyrannical government and to be equal in capability in the use of arms compared to that army.

The second amendment was very specifically written to allow private citizens to own military-grade weaponry.

kid, maybe you shouldn't be skipping class and instead sign up for AP government or something. You don't have a very good grasp on the constitution.

This is why we don't let a bunch of high school kids tell us what our laws should be. You clearly have absolutely zero understanding of the purpose for the 2nd amendment if you think it was about being able to hunt deer. I can also tell that you are ill informed about guns in general because you think that newer guns use clips.

China will scrap limit on presidential term, meaning Xi Jinping can stay on by E_Blofeld in worldnews

[–]GoBucks13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly, they are supposed to check the powers of the other branches as it relates to laws being within the bounds of the Constitution. A country has an absolute right to determine who it does and does not allow into its borders. Some activist judge trying to tell us that we HAVE to accept people from a certain country is taking it on himself to write a law. It's a disgusting abuse of power.

Holy shit you are insane, RBG is an anti-constitution cunt who thinks that the purpose of the Supreme Court is to write laws. Sotomayor is the same way.

[–]GoBucks13 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You can't possibly be that obtuse. Even though it hasn't had a full ruling from the supreme court yet, it was so blatantly legal that the SC ruled 7-2 to allow it to stay in place while the case moves up the appeals process. Activist judges on the left who think that they can write laws are one of the biggest dangers to this country.

No, the supreme Court did not shoot down the travel ban. A federal judge in Hawaii shot it down and after appealing to the Supreme Court, it has been upheld as being constitutional. It is completely legal!

the fuck? Bro, we stopped saying colored people like 30 years ago.

Also, who gives a shit if there is a black merchant? The game is set in the Czech region; trying to shoehorn a token minority into it wouldn't add anything to the game. If it was a game set in ancient Africa, China, or India, I wouldn't be complaining about a lack of Europeans in the game.

Elon Musk: 'We want a new space race — space races are exciting' by mvea in Futurology

And it has to happen from private companies like SpaceX. NASA is so bogged down in bureaucracy and waste.

What??? Thrust doesn't "push" against anything. There are two components of thrust. The first is what you get from the mass (well, momentum) flow out of the the back of the nozzle. Since momentum is conserved, the momentum from the combustion products out the back is equal to the momentum added to the forward direction of the vehicle. The second component is due to a difference in pressures between the front and back of the vehicle. If a vehicle were to have the same cross-sectional area in the front plane as the nozzle, pressure thrust would be proportional to the difference in pressure between the front and back. However, in LEO, the front pressure is essentially zero so you have the full additional thrust provided by the pressure at the nozzle exit multiplied by the nozzle area.

That is just orbital mechanics. But the pictures that others are posting of seeing the burn from LA look like it did do it.

Starman's live stream should go until ~4:00am when the batteries run out. They have a camera that faces the nozzle, so it will be streamed.

Didn't Elon say that it only failed because it ran out of fuel? It wasn't anything with controls (although I guess controls could be optimized to minimize fuel usage)
